 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Nigerian Police Arrest, Detain Sheep For ‘Stealing’ In Borno The Borno State Police Command in Maiduguri has arrested and detained a lone sheep and her two lambs following a complaint that it ate a heap of fried fish displayed for sale. The incident occurred at Bulabulin Ward in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council on Saturday. The sheep and her lambs were said to still be detained as at Sunday morning. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged at the Bulabulin Divisional Police headquarters by one Yusuf Ibrahim who sells fish along a busy road in the neighbourhood. According to Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst, Ibrahim complained that the sheep had been 'terrorising' him for years.  He said he had endured the intrusion and criminal behaviour of the animal for five years, but that its action on Saturday caused him huge losses. Ibrahim further remarked that the sheep had formed the habit of coming around his shop and patiently keeping watch

TANZANIA 🇹🇿 Tanzanian🇹🇿 airplane crash-lands into Lake Victoria! The Precision Air plane flying from Dar es Salaam to Bukoba with about 49 passengers is reported to have crash-landed into the lake due to poor weather conditions witnessed in the region. The passenger aircraft had left Dar es Salaam two hours earlier and was descending at Bukoba Airport when it crash-landed. Preliminary reports blame the accident on bad weather as the region has been experiencing heavy rains leading to fog Rescue operations are underway. More details later and more photos below.

Oyo State Transport Union Member Electrocuted While Destroying Campaign Billboard Of Accord Party Gov Candidate In Oyo A middle-aged man whose name has not been revealed has been electrocuted while destroying a campaign billboard of Adebayo Adelabu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Adelabu is the governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State. It was gathered that the victim, identified as a member of the Park Management System (PMS), had climbed a pole at the Challenge area in Ibadan on Friday without knowing that the billboard was connected to a live wire close to it. While the victim was fighting for his life, his colleagues fled the scene of the incident before the arrival of police officers. A video of the incident which has gone viral, showed the victim lying on the ground while passersby watched his lifeless body.

More Than 1700 Residents Kidnapped By Bandits In Six Months – Kaduna State Government The Kaduna State government has said 1,789 citizens were kidnapped by bandits in six months. The government said 161 bandits were killed in various encounters with security agencies within the same period. The Commissioner for Internal Security and Homes Affairs in the state, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this while presenting the second and third security situation reports for 2022 to the state government on Friday. Aruwan further said 59 bandits were neutralised by security agents at different locations in the second quarter. He said those killed due to banditry, communal clashes and reprisals in this quarter were 285. In the third quarter, which he said was from July 1 to September 2022, 804 residents were kidnapped, with 508 of the number recorded in the Kaduna Central senatorial district. Spanish Ambassador Seeks  Better Synergy With Nigeria Customs Service  The Nigeria Customs Service recently played host to Juan Ignacio Sell Sanz, the Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria at the Customs Headquarters,  Abuja. Juan Ignacio applauded the recently concluded training on the Revised Arusha Declaration held in Nigeria.  He also appreciated the World Customs Organisation initiative for including a resource person from the Spanish Customs Authority.  The CGC Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) appreciated the visit and also extended gratitude for the resource person's effort in instilling knowledge to the Officers and Men of the Nigeria Customs Service. The Ambassador was presented with a souvenir to cement his visit to the Nigeria Customs Service,  "This will be the start of a mutually beneficial relationship." The CGC reiterated. Ghost workers: Zulum asks committee to review identity of 624 teachers  Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has ordered a review of Primary School teachers' verification exercise conducted in December 2020, which found 7,794 ghost teachers among 22,556 ghost workers across the 27 LGAs of the State.  Zulum had set up a Primary School Teachers Verification Committee, chaired by Dr. Shettima Kullima, former Chairman of Borno State Universal Basic Education Board.  The Committee evaluated 26,450 teachers on the Government’s payroll of which 7,794 were identified as ghost workers.  The Nigerian Union Teachers (NUT) in Borno State however complained that of the 7,794 ghost workers, about 624 teachers were believed to have been wrongly included in the ghost workers’ list.  Governor Zulum in response, set up a review Committee which he inaugurated today (Friday) in Maiduguri. Sons and daughters of Aguleri, Anambra East Council Area led by Eze Chukwuemeka Eri of Enugwu Aguleri today set down to Odene River- Agbanabo Ezu na Omabal  for prayers and cleansing of all the Igbo extractions. The journey is to commemorate the entrance of their progenitor, Eri, whom they  believe had stopped at the confluence thousands of years ago before his sojourn in the upland, Aguleri community where the races of other igbo tribes and beyond began.  The commemoration is called "Olili Obibia Eri".  During the ceremony, Eze Eri engaged in deep prayers, seeking God's face for the upcoming year and thanked him for the passing year.  He also watched his subjects with water and also bless others that they can take home for other spiritual purposes.
