 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.         Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has emphasised the need for all financial institutions in the country to follow due process in financial transactions for an improved economy. Amosun, when receiving board members of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), in his office yesterday, said this will help boost the economy and elevate the status of citizens. He commended the initiative of the board to establish its regional in the state, noting that majority of the banks are now opening their head offices in Ogun. FRSC TO COMMENCE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PENALTY POINT SYSTEM ON TRAFFIC OFFENDERS.#PRESS RELEASE.

        The Federal Road Safety Corps has revealed that it will commence full implementation of the Penalty Point System on traffic offender come 1st June, 2019.        The Head of Service in Benue State, Mrs Veronica Onyeke, has debunked media reports that official activities of the Benue State government have shutdown following the annual leave embarked upon by Governor Samuel Ortom. Mrs Onyeke made the refutal today in her office while reacting to a report in one of the national dailies that top government officials had taken advantage of the Governor's leave and abandoned their offices.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Ilorin Zonal Office has secured the conviction of Ogundele Adeseye, 24, who was re-arraigned on a one-count amended charge bordering on internet fraud. He was convicted by Justice Babangana Ashigar of a Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, on April 10, 2019 after he pleaded "guilty" to the charge, following a plea bargain agreement. He was previously arraigned on a five-count charge, which was later amended to one count after plea bargain agreement was reached. ANAMBRA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY BAN'S EXPENSIVE FUNERALS.

     The Anambra State House of Assembly has outlawed expensive funerals in the state by passing the bill entitled a Law To Control Burial/Funeral Ceremonial Activities in the State, the House said it had become an offence to hold a funeral for more than a day in the state. Before this development, communities had held funerals on an average of three days, but the bill sponsored by the member representing Anaocha II constituency, Charles Ezeani stated that “Burial/funeral control bill is aimed at cutting down the cost of burial activities in the state”. The bill provided that in the event of death, “No person shall deposit any corpse in the mortuary or any place beyond two months from the date of the death, while burial ceremonies in the state shall be for one day.” The law prohibited destruction of property, gunshots, praise-singing, blocking of roads and streets during burial ceremonies in the state.        The Director of Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau, and six others kidnapped on the 6th of April, 2019 at about 8.00pm, in Ketu-Ereyun, Ikorodu have been released by their abductors unhurt.
