 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on January 15, 2018 arraigned one Blessing Aishatu Arowojobe before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a one-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N7,065,000 (Seven Million and Sixty Five Thousand Naira) only. The petitioner alleged that Arowojobe, approached him with a business proposal sometime in January 2018. He further alleged that he later transferred a sum of N7, 065,000 to the defendant in February 2018 for the procurement of ‘garri’ and cassava from Edo State. The defendant, however, allegedly diverted the money to her personal use. The count reads: "That you, Blessing Aishatu Arowojobe, between February 3 and February 22, 2018 at Lagos, within the Ikeja judicial Division, by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of N7, 065,000 (Seven Million, and Sixty-Five Thousand Naira) from one

      Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that Sixty (60) percent of appointments during his second term would be reserved for the youths. Speaking during a meeting with youth leaders from all the wards of Rivers State at the Rivers State PDP Campaign Office, Governor Wike said that his second term would be used to groom youths for leadership positions. He said: "When we return for our second term in office, the youths will take 60 percent of appointments. The elders have had their day during the first term. The second term will be for the youths. EGBEYEMI LAMENTS HARD DRUGS CONSUMPTION BY EKITI YOUTHS.#PRESS RELEASE.

        Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, has lamented the high rate of consumption of hard drugs, especially Indian hemp by the youths of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. Egbeyemi said consumption of Indian hemp and other hard drugs was responsible for crimes like kidnapping, robbery, rape, cultism, thuggery and political violence. According to a statement on Monday signed by his Special Assistant (Media), Odunayo Ogunmola, Egbeyemi spoke at a special prayer meeting organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ado-Ekiti Branch at Ewi’s Palace. Egbeyemi also condemned the open sale of Indian hemp and other hard drugs in some areas like Atikankan, Oke Ila, Odo Ado, Idemo and Iworoko Road which he described as unacceptable and injurious to the future of the youth.        EFCC PRESS RELEASE The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office has arrested a Bishop and suspected fraudster, Giniko Obi, for allegedly defrauding thousands of people of various sums of money running into millions of naira, in the guise of helping them “fight poverty”. Obi, founder of Beloved Gideon Foundation, based in Agbor, Delta State, with outreaches in Bayelsa, Onitsha, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Benin City, however, denied any involvement in fraud claiming that he was only “doing the will of God by trying to help the people fight poverty”.
