 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Belongings of Nigerian musician stolen in US hotel Singer, Oluwajuwonlo Iledare, popularly known as Jaywon, has been robbed of his belongings at a hotel in the United States. Jaywon, in a video shared on his Instagram page, said he stepped out of his hotel room where he left his luggage and other items only to get back and realise everything was missing. In the video shared, two policemen were captured searching the room while the singer lamented his loss. The ‘This Year’ singer said: “This is where I left my luggage just this afternoon. Abducted man found dead on Christmas day in Anambra A young man allegedly abducted near a hotel in Okpuno, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been found dead. The deceased, simply identified as Ifeanyi, hailed from Awgbu, Orumba North Local Government Area. His body was found in Awka, the state capital on Christmas day. He was abducted on Friday along Geneva Hotel road. A friend of the deceased, Ebuka Okoye, posted his photograph on his Facebook wall. He blamed the growing insecurity in the state. The post read: “One death too many!!! 27th December, 2022 PRESS RELEASE   DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND OPERATIVES  NUETRALIZES TWO SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, RECOVERS ONE AK49 RIFLE, ONE LOCALLY MADE DOUBLE BARREL GUN AND CARTRIDGES: On 24/12/2022 at about 2300hours, operatives of ‘B’ Division Warri patrol team, while on night surveillance patrol duty along Okumagba Estate roundabout in Warri South LGA, they intercepted a tricycle with two male occupants, and subjected them to a search. During the search, three live cartridges concealed under the seat of the tricycle were recovered. The suspects were taken into custody. Upon interrogation, suspects confessed to be members of a five man kidnapping syndicate operating around Warri and its environs. Vote Leaders Who Won’t Fight Bandits, They Are Our People – Sheikh Gumi  With less than 90 days to the 2023 elections, popular Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has told Nigerians to vote for those who will not fight bandits if elected into office. In a sermon, the controversial Islamic cleric urged Nigerians to vote for leaders who would negotiate with bandits when elected into office. Describing bandits as “our people,” Gumi said Nigeria’s next set of leaders should negotiate and give bandits what they want for peace to reign. “Don’t vote for those who will fight bandits. The fighters (bandits) are our people. So please vote for those who, after attaining power, will call and negotiate with our people (bandits) so as to give them what they want for peace to reign,” he said. Senator IG Abana Awards Scholarships To 58 Indigent Students.  More than 58 indigent students from Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State have benefited from the scholarship scheme of former Senator I.G. Abana in a ceremony witnessed by the residents of the community. The award will be implemented through the Senator IG Abana Foundation.  It has been over eight years of the Foundation living up to the tenets of its motto, "Touching Lives Positively" with its vision as scholarship scheme for indigent but intelligent secondary school and university students, financial empowerment for small scale entrepreneurs, particularly women, free medical health services for the sick, special health intervention scheme for patients with terminal health conditions, food assistance to the very poor and establishment of Centre for the Elderly for their good health, maintenance and welfare. The scholarship was awarded to 35 undergraduates and 23 secondary school pupils.

News of his purported death surfaced on social media this Tuesday morning, December 27, 2022, making News Express to embark on a frantic effort to confirm his welfare. Unpaid ‘tax’: Bandits kill 4, abduct over 100 farmers in Niger Bandits have killed no fewer than four farmers and abducted over 100 others including women and children from 14 communities in Mashegu and Rafi local government areas of Niger State in the last three weeks.  It was gathered that more than half of the victims were kidnapped while harvesting maize, beans, guinea corn and soya beans on their farms.  Those killed were a traditional ruler, two vigilantes and one other person during an invasion in Mashegu Local Government.  Sources said the communities attacked in Mashegu included Sabon-Rijiya, Tsohon-Rami, Bakwai-Bakwai, Mulo, Kawo-Mulo, Nasarawa-Mulo, Mai-Azara, Foje, Mutun-Daya, Beji, Gidan-Malam, Bokuta, Chetaku and Gbazhi, forcing residents to flee to Ibbi town and other safer places in the local government.  In Rafi and part of Shiroro local governments, 61 farmers were reportedly kidnapped in Gidigori, Pandogari and Durumi communities in the last two weeks.  Residents sai
