 Abuja Court Jails Two Internet Fraudsters The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Command, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 secured the conviction and sentence of two internet fraudsters to various jail terms. The convicts, Adeleye Olanrewaju and Ayo Olaosebiomo were convicted by Justice I. Mohammed of the Federal Capital Territory,  FCT,  High Court Gwagwalada on a one- count charge each. The lone- count charge against Olanrewaju  reads: ‘that you Adeleye Olanrewaju sometime in 2024 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable court committed the offence of cheating by personation when you pretended to be one Lolita Gonzale293 female American citizen when you created a fake Instagram account for love scam and benefitted the sum of $460 (Four Hundred and Sixty United States Dollars) from your victim John Alonzo and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 321 and punishable under Section 324 of the Penal Code Act, Laws of the Federation, 2004”.   They both

YOUNG MAN BURNT TO DEATH FOR ALLEGEDLY STEALING N2000 IN BENUE An unidentified young man was burnt to death by angry mob for allegedly stealing N2000 at a popular market in Benue. The incident happened on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Ihugh market in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State. According to reports on Facebook, the young man allegedly stole money from a market woman while another witness said he stole some wrappers belonging to the woman.

PRESS RELEASE FG CALLS FOR COORDINATED ACTION BY STAKEHOLDERS TO ELIMINATE CHILD LABOUR The Federal government has called for coordinated actions among stakeholders in order to accelerate the elimination of child Labour in the country.  Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dr Yerima Peter Tarfa, made the call in Abuja at the flag-off of the capacity-building workshop organized for Zonal Directors/State Controllers on the use and application of the Reviewed National Policy on Elimination of Child Labour in Nigeria and its National Action Plan 2021-2025.  He stated that the workshop was expected to enhance the skills of the participants for effective implementation of the content of the National Policy and National Action Plan on Elimination of Child Labour.  Tarfa urged the participants and other stakeholders to work within the provisions and guidelines of the Policy and its Action Plan, playing their assigned roles and coordinating their actions, in order to

EFCC Arrests 5 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Makurdi The operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Command of the EFCC, on Saturday, April 9, 2022, arrested five (5) suspected internet fraudsters in Makurdi, Benue State. The suspects who are alleged to be involved in internet-related fraud are; Enekwache Bright, Amih Dominic, Achir David, David Atese and Anongo Angela. They were arrested in Makurdi based on some verified intelligence on their alleged criminal activities. Items recovered from them include mobile phones and several incriminating documents. The suspects will be charged to Court as soon as the investigation is concluded.  One more photo below.

EFCC Challenges Court Order to Release Obiano’s Passport The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has kicked against an interim Order made ex parte by the Awka Division of the Federal High Court presided over by Justice Hyeladzira A. Nganjiwa granting the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano leave to travel abroad to the United States of America to attend to his medical appointment, on the grounds of denial of fair hearing. Obiano is being investigated by the EFCC for alleged corruption and money laundering during his tenure as Anambra State governor from 2014 to 2022. He was arrested on March 17, 2022, at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos as he attempted to leave the country, hours after handing over to his successor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo. He had earlier been watch-listed by the Commission.  Ukraine: Some Nigerians Preferred Poland Prison Than Returning Home – Diaspora Chairman, Abike-Dabiri  Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, while condemning Poland for detaining Nigerians and other African students fleeing Ukraine, has said Nigerians being detained in Poland were forewarned of the consequence. “There is no extra expenditure. With President Buhari ‘s directive and a govt team led by Geoffrey Onyeama, arrangements were made for ALL who wanted to return. Some stayed back and are now being kept in tortuous detention centres in Poland. They were warned,” Dabiri-Erewa tweeted.   On Thursday, Dabiri-Erewa had called for those detained to be released.    Her comments come after the Federal Government approved $8.5million for the evacuation of at least 5,000 Nigerians.

NIGERIA OVERTAKES IRAQ AS COUNTRY WITH HIGHEST ATTACKS BY ISLAMIC STATE TERRORISTS.(PHOTO).

  Jihad Analytics, a consultancy company which processes data on global and cyber jihad says Nigeria now has the highest number of attacks by the Islamic State (IS). According the report, half of the attacks claimed by IS since the beginning of 2022 were in Africa, while the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), an affiliate of IS, is now more active in Nigeria. Data by Jihad Analytics showed that while Nigeria has recorded a total of 162 IS operations since January 2022, Iraq has recorded 120. “Since the beginning of the year, the Islamic State has conducted half of its attacks in #Africa,” the company wrote in a tweet on Friday.
