  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.         The trial-within-trial in a case involving one Dairo Samson who is facing eight counts of theft, criminal breach of trust and advance fee fraud continued on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 before Justice A. R. Mohammed of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Jabi, Abuja. The defendant allegedly defrauded the Federal Government to the tune of N11.3million. Samson’s arrest and subsequent prosecution by the EFCC, was  sequel to a petition, dated February 23, 2016 signed by Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, requesting for “payroll fraud investigation” as part of efforts to unravel various techniques used by fraudsters to defraud the Nigerian government by way of ghost workers. Samson was said to have committed the fraud between 2013 and 2017 in connivance with one Saliu Olushola (aka Nokia), using various aliases including Momoh Hassan, Umar Musa and Umar Obele Musa. About 150 of the returnees are undergoing training in agriculture as part of the state government’s capacity building initiative to ease their integration. Two teachers were informed that she was sick by her seniors in school but they didn't inform the school authorities or call us so they didn't attend to her or take care of her, even the nurse that was on duty once chased her away that she wasn't sick but was pretending. SAFETY COMMISSION ADVOCATES SAFE FOOD HANDLING AT LOCAL GOVT AREAS.

      Lagos State Safety Commission has commenced a sensitization/Advocacy programme for food handlers and vendors at the grassroots area to prevent accidents and incidents resulting from improper food handling. Speaking at the flag-off of the programme, the Director-General of the Commission, Mr. Hakeem Dickson, stated that proper food handling is an essential aspect of our daily lives, but was not being given necessary a ttention. He explained that the present administration is deeply concerned about the safety of the people, particularly when it comes to food, adding that the average man on the street usually buys ready-to-eat-food from vendors without the assurance that such food was hygienically prepared or handled. At the sensitization programme held at Ojo Local Government Secretariat, Dickson explained that the programme was brought to the area following its large population and for housing many low-income earners. OBIANO DONATES MADE-IN-ANAMBRA VEHICLES TO POLICE & OTHER SECURITY OPERATIVES YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}

        Earlier yesterday, the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano donated some patrol vans and motorbikes to the Security Agencies in Anambra State to help in policing the state. It's no more news that Anambra state is the safest state in Nigeria where crime fighting has been advanced from mere management to prediction and early prevention. Out of the 13 vehicles which are all four-wheel trucks procured from Innoson Motors, Nnewi, Anambra State; 5 each will go to the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC while the remaining three will be for the Anambra State Vigilante Services. The 20 motorbikes are also for the NSCDC. Presenting the vehicles and motorbikes, Governor Obiano explained that they were provided as requested by the security agencies and charged the officers to continue putting in their best for the security of the state.More photos below.
