 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Terrorists Kill Another Kaduna Catholic Priest On His Farm Gunmen believed to be terrorists have killed another Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Vitus Borogo, on his farm in Kaduna State. The chancellor, Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, Rev. Fr. Christian Okewu Emmanuel, confirmed the latest incident in a statement made available to SaharaReporters. TWO OF THE THREE FREE SENATOR STELLA ODUAH HOMES FOR WIDOWS IN ONITSHA ARE DONE & DUSTED!  A little over 5 or 6 months ago, we announced the Distinguished Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah's intention to build brand new homes for 3 indigent widows in each of the 7 LGA'S in Anambra North and asked for assistance in reaching a decision as to the lucky beneficiaries. At the end of the day, three widows were selected ( Mrs. Obianamma Oniah of Umuase Village, Mrs. Maryanne Aduba of Iyiawu Village and Mrs. Oranye of Odoje Village). The projects would eventually kick off in earnest IN STAGES with the first stage requiring that we build for two of the above with a caveat that we would complete the cycle after. It has been a roller coaster ride but I'm pleased to announce today that as we speak, the Iyiawu & Umuase homes have been completed and the keys handed over to me.  BENUE GOVT CHARGES CAMEROONIAN REFUGEES ON RESPECT FOR HOST COMMUNITIES Benue State Government has advised Cameroonian Refugees in Ikyogen, Kwande Local Government Area of the state to adhere to the laws of the land by ensuring peaceful coexistence within the community. Kebbi Customs Hands over N48 Million Worth of Seized Donkey Skin to NAQS The Nigeria Customs Service Kebbi Area Command on Friday handed over N48, 130,642 worth of Donkey skin to the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services.  The Area Comptroller of the Command, Comptroller Joseph Attah during the handing over ceremony said the interception was made by the Command’s Rapid Response Team around Bahindi – Dogon Rimi Waterside in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state. He explained “The items were evacuated from the location and brought to our Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi. Physical examination revealed ninety-four (94) jumbo sacks, each containing thirty pieces making a total of two thousand eight hundred and twenty (2820) donkey skins. The item is valued at N48, 130,642.00. Donkey skins fall under Schedule 6 of Common External Tariff – (2022-2026) exportation of which is prohibited. The intent to smuggle it out of the country, therefore, contravenes Section 63(b) of CEMA CAP C. 45, Law

TROOPS CLEAR IPOB/ESN CAMPS IN ANAMBRA, ENUGU STATES, RECOVER DANGEROUS WEAPONS A joint security team consisting of troops of 302 Regiment of the Nigerian Army, operatives of the Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services and Nigeria Police Force have dislodged camps belonging to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) at Idara Nnebo, Ihe Mbosi villages and Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.  In a clearance operation conducted in the early hours of Saturday 25 June 2022, troops cleared IPOB fire positions and Improvised Explosive Devices to dislodge the criminals from their hideouts. During the operations, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, three magazines with five rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, two pump action rifles and one locally fabricated gun.  Anambra: 30 Year Old Man Arrested For Raping a 75 year Old Woman On Saturday, a 30-year-old man Sunday Nwadiagha was taken into custody by the Anambra Police Command. for allegedly raping a 75-year-old woman, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports. The suspect, who was from the Eyiba neighborhood of Ebonyi, was apprehended Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the Nkwelle Awkuzu village, according to a statement released by the police on Saturday in Awka. A preliminary inquiry found that the culprit was caught in the act at the victim’s farm in Nkwelle Awkuzu. According to DSP Tochukwu Ikenga Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Anambra, who signed the statement, “The suspect’s arrest followed an alarm raised by the old woman, which attracted the attention of passers-by and neighbours who rushed to the scene and caught the culprit”, he stated. The  *CP* gave the advice as Police Operatives at about 4:33pm on 25/6/2022 arrested one Ebube Oba ‘M’ aged 30years over alleged murder of a mother of two (2), Mrs Uzoamaka Ekpe aged 45years living at Ugochukwu lane Nkpor Agu, Ogidi. Preliminary information reveals that late Mrs Uzoamaka had a quarrel with the suspect which resulted to fisticuffs. Traders Suffer Losses As Flood Washes Away Shops in Anambra Market Traders in Relief Market in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State are counting their losses as flood, occasioned by heavy rainfall, washed away shops, electric poles, and cables in the market. The leadership of the market said at least 30 shops were washed away by a submerging flood, including electric poles, underground cables, water borne pipes, among others after the flood hit the market on Friday. Caretaker Committee Chairman of the market, Chief David Obidike, disclosed this during a tour of the affected areas while taking members of his executive and newsmen around the portions. Picking A Vice President In 1999 Was A Mistake – Obasanjo  Former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday said picking a running mate in the 1999 presidential election was a mistake. He made the comment while speaking in Abeokuta at a leadership and entrpreneurship mentoring session with selected school students. Obasanjo, who won the 1999 and 2003 presidential elections, ran alongside Atiku Abubakar. Mr Abubakar is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 elections. “I don’t say I don’t make mistakes – I made many of them,” Obasanjo said. “But one thing that has happened to me is that God has never disappointed me. And that is very important. “For instance, one of the mistakes I made was picking a number two when I was going to become President. “But because it is a genuine mistake, God saved me out of it.”

LASTMA DENIES INVOLVEMENT IN BUS BURNING INCIDENT The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has denied any involvement in a bus burning incident in the Obanikoro area on Ikorodu Road as contained in a viral online video that falsely alleged complicity of its officials. A statement signed by the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba sympathised with the vehicle owner but categorically denied the complicity of any of its officers in the incident, stressing that LASTMA patrol officers within the vicinity tried to assist in putting out the fire but were attacked by a mob. He pointed out that the viral video lacked any evidence of LASTMA officers’ complicity or involvement, adding that those interviewed were neither eyewitnesses nor people directly involved in the incident but residents that did not witness the cause of the incident. Wanted 2 drug kingpins behind seized Tincan port shipments nabbed A Brazilian returnee, Igwedum Uche Benson has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the arrival hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos with pellets of cocaine concealed in his private part. Igwedum was nabbed at the Lagos airport on Monday 20th June upon his arrival on Ethiopian Airlines from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Addis Ababa. Preliminary investigations reveal the suspect had swallowed 50 wraps of cocaine before departing Brazil and excreted 48 pellets in Addis Ababa where he handed them over to another person. He however claimed he was unable to excrete the remaining two wraps at the hotel room in Addis Ababa before boarding his flight but later excreted them in the aircraft restroom during the flight from Ethiopia to Lagos.
