 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

WAPA CALLS FOR JOINT ACTION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.#PRESS RELEASE.

     Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Mrs. Cecilia Bolaji Dada has said that the war against domestic violence must be jointly fought by parents, schools and society as a whole. Dada made the call on Wednesday at a symposium organised by the Domestic Violence Unit of the Ministry with the theme, “Parents as Social Agents of Change”. The Commissioner said that parents must play a crucial role in curbing domestic violence, appealing that they should set good examples for children by avoiding behavioural patterns that can set the young ones on the path destruction. “Parenting as an art is not limited to the biological parents of a child alone; rather, it is a tripartite phenomenon sitting on a three-legged stool. This stool consists of the home, the school and the society at large, as what is fed into the child from the home front is what is taken to the larger society,” Dada stated.       It would be recalled that on the 07/11/2019 at about 7:pm,Police detectives attached to Awada Division arrested one David Maduabuchi 'm' aged 22years of No 16 Chukwu Onovo street, Okpoko. 2. Suspect specializes on swindling vulnerable youngsters particularly teenage girls on Facebook and hoodwink them into stealing from their parents and guardian for him (the suspect). 3. Preliminary investigation revealed that between the months of March, 2019 and November, 2019, the suspect lured one Ogechi Miracle 'f' aged 18years and Chinansa Peter 'f' aged 18yrs on Facebook under false pretences of marrying them. 4. That the National Open Defecation Free (ODF) Roadmap developed by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources with support from other key sector players across Nigeria be put into effect. 3. a.       The EFCC, Makurdi Zonal Office, on November 20, 2019, arraigned one Adetunji Oluwatoba Obasanmi, an officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission before Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon, sitting at the Federal High Court Makurdi, Benue State. He was arraigned on a three - count charge for False Pretense and Cyber Crimes. Obasanmi is alleged to have sometime in June 2 019, intentionally used the name of one Kelly Brautigam, on an email without authority, which document he knew contained false pretence and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 25 of the cyber crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act, 2015 and punishable under the same section of the Act.
