The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.          Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja has convicted and sentenced Abiona Akinyemi Festus to two years imprisonment for internet fraud. The convict who was prosecuted by the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a two-count charge of internet fraud was on wanted list of the Federal Bureau of Investigations of the United States Department of Justice . The FBI, in a petition dated July 10, 2019 had appealed to the Ilorin zonal office of the Commission to ensure Festus’ arrest and prosecution, for his roles in multi-million naira international scam.          The Federal High Court in Lagos has made an order stopping Shoprite Checkers (PTY) Limited from disposing of or transferring its assets out of jurisdiction or to a third party over a $10 million judgment sum. Shoprite two weeks ago announced its intention to exit Nigeria, However Justice Mohammed Liman issued an order in favour of a Nigerian company, A.I.C. Limited, which in 2018, secured a $10m judgment against Shoprite in a breach of contract suit. The $10m judgment sum was awarded A.I.C. Limited by Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo of the Lagos State High Court at Ikeja. Dissatisfied with the judgment of the court, Shoprite went on appeal. The appellate court affirmed the judgment of the lower court. Thereafter Shoprite filed another appeal at the Supreme Court. The appeal is pending.         Nigerian lady crushed to death by a tanker in Ajah just weeks to her wedding, laid to rest It was an emotional day for family members and the fiance of Nigerian lady, Immaculate Emife Okochu, yesterday morning August 17 as her body was laid to rest. Immaculate was crushed to death by a tanker while on her way to work on Wednesday, August 12.
