  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. DG Aminu Sani stated that, the association is in Maiduguri to complement the efforts of His Excellency, Gov. Zulum towards provision of succur to the vulnerable. The items donated include 20 trucks of rice and 10 trucks of grains. Assuring the Governor that, Borno shall benefit from all the programmes to be executed by the association, as another program is coming up this May with theme "Agric for all" would be lauched in Maiduguri. His Excellency in his remarks appreciated the efforts of the association as its support came in timely in the fasting period. REV. FR. LIVINUS NNAMANI DIES IN ROME FEW WEEKS AFTER HIS ORDINATION.{PHOTOS}.#RIP

  The Igbo Catholic Priest who was ordained a Priest on the 1st of April, 2021 by the Auxiliary Bishop of Rome has died. Rev. Fr. Livinus Esomchi Nnamani aged 31 years was suffering from Leukemia and his sickness was quite critical & terminal. Fr. Livinius made the decision to write to Pope Francis, asking him to bring forward his ordination. The reply came quickly on 31 March: Pope Francis gave his permission. The following day, Livinius was ordained a priest at the Presidio Sanitario Medica Group Casilino Hospital in Rome. After few weeks of his Priestly Ordination, Rev. Fr. Livinus Esomchi has gone to rest in the Love and Peace of his creator. May Almighty Father grant him eternal rest. More photo below.

  20-year-old Folajimi Olubunmi-Adewole has died after jumping into the River Thames in a bid to help a woman who fell off London Bridge, in United Kingdom. The Sun UK reports that Adewole saw the woman fall into the river and jumped in the water along with another man just after midnight on Saturday, April 25. Emergency services, including the coastguard and police marine units, were called to the scene to help all three people who were in the water. They rescued the woman and one of the men who jumped into the river to help her, but were unable to locate the other. His body was tragically found six hours later. Jimi was on his way home from work at fine dining restaurant The Cinnamon Club in Westminster when he spotted the woman on the bridge. After seeing her fall into the water he dived in to try and save her, along with his colleague.   Fraudster Arrested With Nine ATM Cards Stolen From Bank The Enugu State police command has arrested a member of a fraud syndicate that specializes in stealing bank customers’ Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards through swapping. The suspect, identified as Chukwudi Chukwu, was nabbed with nine stolen ATM cards. The 25-year-old suspect was said to have been arrested by police operatives attached to New Haven Police Division after they received a distress call that the suspect was about to be lynched by an angry mob. It was gathered that the syndicate which the man belongs, swaps unsuspecting bank customers’ ATM cards by offering to assist them to process their transaction on the machines. They will thereafter, use the ATM cards to empty their victims’ accounts. However, luck was said to have run out on Chukwu when he was discovered to have swapped a woman’s ATM card after offering to assist the woman in processing her transaction on the ATM with the intention of defrauding her. Security agencies reported to the Government that armed bandits attacked congregants at Haske Baptist Church, Manini, about 9:30am, and killed a worshipper, Dr Zechariah Dogonyaro.
