 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

N30M FRAUD: EFCC CLOSES CASE AGAINST HERBALIST TODAY.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       Five months after the arraignment of a self acclaimed herbalist, Jamiu Isiaka who allegedly defrauded Korean National, Keun Sig Kim, the Commission has finally closed its case against the defendant. The Ilorin Zonal Office of the EFCC had on June 11, 2019 arraigned Isiaka before Justice Mahmood Abdulgafar of a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on a six count charge bordering on Fraud and Obtaining Money under False Pre tence. . . The self acclaimed herbalist was accused of obtaining the sum of Thirty Million Naira from his victim under the pretence of helping him to secure a licence from the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Office of the Group General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

      The Lagos State Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested one Adeleye Benjamin Oladele, for parading himself as staff of the Commission, working in the office of the Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, and defrauding unsuspecting job seekers with promises of job placement in the Commission. . . Oladele ran into trouble when one of his victims, travelled from Ondo State to the head office of the Commission in Abuja, "to resume work". He embarked on the fruitless trip, after he received a text message from Oladele, informing him that his employment in the Commission has been formalized and that he should proceed to Abuja to resume work in the Advance Fee Fraud Section of the Commission. But unknown to the victim, had been scammed and sent on a wild goose chase. He is among 12 victims that have fallen prey to the wiles of Oladele. . .        The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency(LASTMA) has notified motorists that due to the “Lagos Women Run” marathon event scheduled to hold on Saturday, 9th November, 2019, between 6.00 am and 10.00 am, the Onikan roundabout inwards Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) and other roads leading to the entrance of TBS, as well as the entire stretch of Broad Street into Eko Bridge inwards Surulere, will be closed to traffic for th e duration of the race. A statement from LASTMA noted that participants will take off from Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island, proceed through the entire stretch of Broad Street and link Eko Bridge through Apongbon.       The Lagos State Government, through the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Ministry of Justice today arraigned the Dangote cement truck driver who was involved in the road accident that led to the death of four persons in Ikorodu. A press release by the Ministry stated that the accused person, Mr. Sheriff Adebayo, was arraigned before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Ikeja High Court on a four-count charge of involuntary manslaughter contrary to section 224 of the Criminal Law of Lagos. The prosecuting team, led by Mr.Yaqub Oshoala of the DPP, accused the truck driver of dangerous and reckless driving, resulting in the collision with a BRT Bus with registration number LSR 228XS on the 27th of August, 2019, and consequently killing four passengers inside the vehicle. GOV. SANWO-OLU PRESENTS N1.168 TRILLION YEAR 2020 BUDGET.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      With a proposed fiscal plan of N115 billion for public infrastructure, Lagos State, next year, will be a massive construction site. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, presented the Year 2020 Budget proposal to the House of Assembly, unveiling his administration’s plan to accelerate the growth of State’s economy by proposing aggressive investments in critical areas of priorities - physical infrastructure, environment, human capital and security. Sanwo-Olu announced that the State would be spending N1.168 trillion, which will be funded from a projected Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N1.071 trillion. The budget deficit, put at N97.53billion, will be financed through internal and external loans, the Governor said. Besides, the fiscal proposal also included a provision for the new minimum wage. The Field of Remembrance was opened by The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duke of Sussex joined his grandfather at the event for many years. His Royal Highness served in the Royal Navy from 1939-1952, during which time he saw active service in WWII and reached the rank of Commander. Sir Robert continues to choreograph at the age of 94 and has worked with thousands of performers across the globe. Vivien Foster is Co-Founder and President of the Merchant Navy Association. Vivien was awarded an OBE by The Prince for her services to the Association, which was set  up in 1989 to raise awareness of the commitment and sacrifice of merchant seafarers during war and conflict.
