 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

AMBODE APPROVES N380M FOR BURSARY,LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENTS.

                  Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the payment of bursary and local scholarship to Lagos State indigenes in tertiary institutions across the country.Special Adviser to the Governor on Education,Mr Obafela Bank-Olemoh,who made the announcement to journalists today monday,said the bursary would be for fresh beneficiaries and others receiving subsequent payment.He listed the beneficiaries to include 2015/2016 set and other sets receiving second and third payments for the years 2013/2014 and 2014/2015.While stressing the commitmebt of the State Government to sustain the scholarship and bursary scheme in spite of the economic situation of the country,Bank-Olemoh said the Governor is committed to ensuring Lagosians are empowered through education to contribute productively to the local and global economies.He further said that ''the timely released of the awards demonstrates the priority the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode accords to e

SHOOTING STARS DEFENDER ''IZU JOSEPH'',SHOT DEAD BY A STRAY BULLET IN BAYELSA YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}.

                   Izu Joseph,Shooting Stars defender was reportedly shot dead in his hometown of Okaki in Bayelsa state.According to the player's father,Joseph was hit by a stray bullet which was fired by troops battling Niger Delta militants yesterday sunday.Initial reports had it that Joseph was killed at a restricted area by soldiers on a raid,with his identity as a footballer only established after he had been shot.The powerful central defender joined Shooting Stars from Bayelsa United when the Ibadan club was still in the second-tier Nigeria National League.He was the man of the match at champions Rangers when Shooing Stars drew 1-1 this past season.The Sports Writers Association {SWAN} commented: ''It is indeed a great loss not only to 3SC but also to the football fraternity in Nigeria''.It urged the government to beef up security across the country to prevent a ''recurrence of the avoidable incident that claimed the life of our valuable footballer,Iz

                 Former Minister of Defence,{State},Musiliu Obanikoro today,October 17,2016 reported to the EFCC.Obanikoro had been on the wanted list of the EFCC over his involvement in the armsgate for which former National Security Adviser,Sambo Dasuki is being prosecuted by the Federal Government.The former minister is still telling the operatives of the Commission his involvement in the armsgate.One more photo below.

                          Two Federal High Court judges Mohammed Nasir Yunusa and Hyeladzira Ajiya Nganjiwa today,17th October,2016,reported to the Lagos Office of EFCC.The judges arrived at the Commission's Lagos Office following an invitation letter the EFCC extended to them.Their invitation is sequel to the bribery and money laundering allegations the Commission discovered during investigations in an ongoing case in which two senior lawyers have already been arraigned in court.It would be recalled that the EFCC had on March 9,2016,arraigned two senior lawyer Rickey Tarfa SAN and Joseph Nwobike SAN,before a Lagos High Court on allegations of bribery and offering gratification to a public official.Nwobike and Tarfa are facing criminal prosecution for allegedly offering gratification to Federal High Court judges to refrain them from exercising the duties of their office.Subsequent investigation revealed that the two Judges allegedly received sums of money from the two senior lawyer
