EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

LAGOS STATE DEBUNKS REPORT OF HARMFUL GERMS IN PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY.

                    The Lagos State Government has debunked the recent report published in the Daily Trust Newspaper,saying that harmful germs were found in Lagos public water supply.According to a statement issued by the Managing Director,Lagos Water Corporation,Engr,Muminu Badmus today,the Newspaper claimed to have conducted an independent investigation during which it took water samples from six States of the Federation-Abuja,Lagos,Plateau,Kano,Katsina and Enugu-and analyzed the samples according to the guidelines of the American Public Health Association,19th edition.The report claimed further that the investigation revealed that many of the samples,including that of Lagos,did not meet the World Health Organisation's {WHO} Standard or the Nigerian Standard for Drinking Water Quality.Refuting the claim,the LWC Boss said a comprehensive laboratory test and analysis have been carried out in all our facilities,in the last few weeks,and it is clear that Lagos public water supply is

UNICEF,PROVIDES N53M FOR GIRL-CHILD EDUCATION IN ZAMFARA.

          UNICEF says it has disbursed N53 million to 209 School Based Management Committees {SBMCs} for the improvement of girl-child education in Zamfara stare in northwest Nigeria.The Chief of UNICEF Sokoto field office,Mr Mohammed Mohiuddin,said the fund was part of an intervention on Girl Education Project Phase 3 {GEP 3} by the UKID/DFID and managed by the UNICEF.The project,he said,was designed to be implemented over eight years,from 2012 to 2020,during which one million additional girls were expected to be enrolled and retained in schools in the five states under the scheme.The field officer said, ''an estimated 1.9 million boys would also benefit from the investment through improvements in teacher quality and school governance.An estimated 155,580 girls were expected to be added to the number of girls in school by the time the project rounds off in 2020''.Mohiuddin said each of the schools management committees would receive N250,000 directly into its account f

EFCC,RE-ARRAIGNS EX-FCT MINISTER'S SON TODAY FOR N1.2BN FRAUD.[PHOTOS}.

                     Shamsudeen Bala,son of a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,Bala Mohammed,was today May 30,2017 re-arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court,Abuja.He was re-arraigned along with four companies-Bird Trust Agro Allied Limited Intertrans Global Logistic Limited,Diakin Telecommunications Limited and Bal-Vac Mining Nigeria Limited,on an amended 15-count charge,bordering on money laundering.The amendment,which was effected in counts 10 to 15,according to prosecution counsel,Ben Ikani, ''was to accommodate new information'' in the alleged charge brought against them.He pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him.His counsel,Chris Uche,SAN thereafter urged the court to allow him continue to enjoy the bail earlier granted to him on February 3,2017 two days after he was first arraigned.Uche,further requested for time to study the amended charge dated May

                          33 year old Adibe Pascal and his partner in crime 42 year old Okafor Ifeanyi Anthony were in May 2016 arrested for allegedly smuggling 1.27 kg of cocaine in their stomach to Cambodia.The two excreted about 70 wraps of cocaine.The duo appeared in court on wednesday and were sentenced to life imprisonment and $10,000 fine each for smuggling more than 1kg of cocaine into Cambodia.The Thailand-bound drug smugglers departed Nigeria for Vietnam and arrived Cambodia via Dubai from where they were arrested.

             According to one of my reporters Chinenye Genevieve,who sent in this story,said that ''a  Nigerian model based in the United States of America,Nneoma Anosike,has filed an action against Wema Bank PLCbefore a Lagos Division of the Federal High Court for allegedly using her photos for commercial purposes without authorization.Mis Anosike,22,sued the bank through her father,Frank Anosike,who doubles as her lawyer,claiming N97 million as damages.According to the plaintiff,the bank on April 11,2016,used her photo for a commercial on social network platform,instagram,without her consent or authorization from Ford Models Inc,her American management company.Among her prayers,the plaintiff is seeking an order directing the defendant to pay N75 million for allegedly passing off her services.She is also seeking an injunction restraining the defendant from passing off r=or causing others to pass off her professional services and a declaration that she is entitled to her privac
