  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.       Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested six suspected internet fraudsters also known as ‘yahoo yahoo boys’ in one of their hideouts, Kubwa area, Abuja. The suspects are: Ihoeghian Aghasomwan, Precious Osarumen, Enabulele Osazee Frank, Osahon Scott, Efe Ehieorobo and Peter James. The operation, which was carried out on May 11, 2018 by the Advance Fee Fraud Section, AFF, of the Commission throug h a sting operation followed an intelligence report on the activities of the fraudsters.Surveillance was carried out and the identity and location of the fraudsters who specialize in defrauding innocent citizens both within and outside the country through internet was identified.On arrest, some of items recovered from the suspects include - one Toyota Camry 2009, 10 laptop computers, 4 ECOWAS International passports, 17 mobile phones, 2 flash drive, HP printer and Certificate of Award of Asian Professional Security Association in favour of Sun Yaje.

FG TO SETTLE INHERITED DEBTS TO CONTRACTORS,EX-NIGERIAN AIRWAYS WORKERS-ADEOSUN.

       The Honourable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, said on Tuesday that the Federal Government would settle the inherited debts and contractual obligations to local contractors between 2006 and 2015. The Minister made this known while appearing before the Ad-Hoc Committee of the Senate on “Promissory Note Programme and Bond Issuance”. The Committee is chaired by the Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Francis Alimikhena. She explained that the debts owed to various classes of contractors, including the terminal benefits of ex-Nigerian Airways workers, would repaid through promissory notes and bonds issuance. The Minister stated that the unpaid Federal Government obligations constituted a drag on economic activity across many sectors, adding that the present Administration was determined to address the problem. Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses met and chatted to a number of today's 8,000 guests, who are invited from all walks of life. Garden Parties have been held at Buckingham Palace since the 1860s and are a way of recognising and rewarding public service.Usually Almost  30,000 people are invited to Garden Parties. The Queen, The Duke of York and The Earl and Countess of Wessex arrive on the West Terrace for the National Anthem, which today was played by the Band of the Irish Guards. Yeoman of the Guard act as Royal Bodyguard to the Sovereign at Garden Parties. The Nigerian Army flagged off Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA on the 20th February 2018 to practice troops in the North Central and parts of North West on planning and conduct of “Military Operations Other Than War”. The Exercise was also aimed at further sustaining Nigerian Army’s constitutional roles of defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria as well as aiding the civil authorit y to maintain peace and security.      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office on Monday May 14, 2018 arraigned the duo of Dr. Peter Kolawole Ojedele and Ali Ahmadu, former Director General and Bursar of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) respectively, before Justice Abdul Dogo of the Federal High Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State on 9-count charge bordering on forgery, obtaining money under false pretence and offences contrary to Section 16 (1) (b) and punishable under Section 58 (5) (a) of the Public Procurement Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria. News Meghan Markle's dad is still attending his daughters wedding this Saturday but according to TMZ  Meghan Markle's dad, Thomas Markle, told   TMZ   that he will not attend the royal wedding and walk his daughter down the aisle following the controversy about his   staged paparazzi photos . He also told the site that he suffered a heart attack six days ago but checked himself out of the hospital to attend the nuptials. However, "he's now decided not to go because he doesn't want to embarrass the Royal Family or his daughter."        The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) yesterday, 14 May 2018, unveiled its new Base in Kerang, Plateau with the commissioning of newly constructed office and residential accommodations for the 205 Combat Search and Rescue Group (CSARG). The newly commissioned projects include the Group Headquarters Complex, a 10 x one-bedroom accommodation for Non-Commissioned Officers and a 6 x one-bedroom Single Officers’ Quarters. Other commissioned projects include the Commander’s Official Residence and a 4 x 2-bedroom residential accommodation for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers serving in the Unit. The commissioned projects were in fulfillment of the promise made by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, during the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the new Unit on 7 March 2017, to ensure timely and adequate provision of infrastructural facilities for the smooth commencement of operation by the Unit.
