The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.         The Honourable Minister of the FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has explained why places of worship cannot yet re-open in the Territory. He gave this explanation on Tuesday 19th of May in his Office during a briefing following a meeting between the FCTA and representatives of the FCT Christian and Muslim communities led by the FCT Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman, Dr Samson Jonah and the FCT League of Imams Initiative, Dr Tajudeen Mohammed Bello Adigun. According to the Minister, the FCT is guided by advise from medical experts and guidelines from the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 which had directed that all measures approved two weeks earlier be extended for another two weeks and these include the restriction on religious gatherings.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, secured the conviction of an internet fraudster, Lawal Sholaru, who bagged six months imprisonment or a N400,000 (Four Hundred Thousand Naira) option of fine for defrauding an American, Mr. David Geobel, of $1,200 in an online scam. . . Sholaru was convicted by Justice Mojisola Dada of Ikeja Special Offences Court in a judgment, delivered in a virtual proceeding. The convict was arraigned on March 18, 2020 by the EFCC on one-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence, to which he pleaded guilty. . . Prosecution counsel, S.O. Daji while reviewing the facts of the case, told the court that the defendant in his statement to the EFCC, confessed that he was into romance scam with the pseudo name, Alicia White, a US national on Facebook and additionally posed as William Bale, a Major-General in the US Army, to defraud his unsuspecting victims.

    Police Inspector, Okoro Charles, has been arrested for shooting and killing one Fatai oladipupo.The Lagos State Command, Wednesday, made the arrest of the inspector who was attached to the Ikotun Division.The inspector was arrested in connection with a shooting incident, along the Obabiyi, Igando road, which led to the demise of Fatai oladipupo, 28.The Commissioner of Police, while condoling the family of the deceased, assured them justice will prevail.

       Justice Muhammad Saidu Sifawa of the Sokoto State High Court, on Thursday, May 21, 2020 granted bail to two Chinese: Meng Wei Kun and Xui Kuoi, being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for offering N100million (Hundred Million Naira) bribe to the Sokoto Zonal Head of the EFCC, Abdulahi Lawal. . . The judge granted the defendants bail in the sum of N5million each to be deposited with the Director Litigation, High Court of Sokoto State, with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be resident in the state and must deposit a Certificate of Occupancy of his landed property within the jurisdiction of the court. . . He also ordered the defendants to submit their international passports with the chief registrar of the court and demanded that they take an undertaking that they would not travel out of the country throughout the duration of their trial.

       On 20/05/2020 at 8:30pm,there was a report of fatal motor vehicle accident along Nkwo Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka LGA of Anambra State involving a shuttle bus with Registration No ACA 325 ZW driven by one Micheal Obi Chukwuebuka 'm’ of Obeagu Osili 'm' of Enug-ukwu . The accident occured when one Anthony Okafor 'm' aged 22 years while trying to cross the highway was suddenly hit by the aforementioned vehicle during the rush hour of the enforcement of curfew. Victim was rushed to Beke Memoirial Hospital Nimo by a Police Patrol team where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty and corpse deposited at same Hospital morgue for postmotem examination.The driver was arrested and investigation is ongoing. However,following the incident, aggrieved youth in the area went on rampage today 21/5/2020 and attempted to set ablaze Nimo Divisional Police headquarters but were persuaded to disperse through the joint efforts of the Police and community stakeholders.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the State Government daily battles the reality of balancing reactivation of economic activities and the continuation of the State’s response to contain the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.     The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Ogun Command, has arrested 14 Togolese and 10 Nigerians at Ajilete and Ilase border posts in the state.The NIS Spokesman, Mr Sunday James, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.The Comptroller, Ogun State Command, Mr Kunle Osisanya, said that the arrest were made by NIS operatives in line with Federal Government directives.According to Osisanya, the 14 Togolese, comprising eight female adults and six minors, were arrested in a J5 bus at Ajilete, in Ogun.“The other 10 were arrested at Ilase, also in Ogun State, and out of the 10, five were victims of human trafficking.“Hence, they will be handed over to NAPTIP for defying the directive of government on closure of land borders,” he said.Osisanya said that the arrested persons had been profiled accordingly by health officials in line with NCDC medical procedures and subjected them to COVID-19 test.He said that the NIS Comptroller Ge
