 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. A Federal High Court Ikoyi has refused requests by 11 political parties to halt the holding of the Chairmen and Councillors election into the 57 Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State. Honourable Justice Akintayo Aluko made the decision in a ruling delivered this morning, 23rd July 2021 in Suit No FHC/L/CS/596/2021 which was filed by the Alliance of Social Democrats & 10 Other Political Parties against Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) and Lagos State Government. Justice Aluko in the ruling upheld the submissions of the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) on behalf of the Lagos State Government.  The Court declined jurisdiction to hear and determine the suit seeking to stop the conduct of the election coming up tomorrow 24th July 2021.  A former bank cashier, Ebenezer Adeolu Alonge alongside his wife, Isakunle Olamide Oyinlola and his mother-in-law, Isakunle Eunice Moradeke were on Friday,  July 23, 2021, convicted and sentenced to Sixty (60) years imprisonment by Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye of Ekiti State  High Court, Ado Ekiti on a 12-count charge of conspiracy and stealing contrary to section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws Cap 16 Laws of Ekiti State,2012  brought against them by the Ibadan Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Justice Ogunmoye, in his judgement, ruled that the prosecution team led by  Abdulrasheed Lanre Suleiman proved their case beyond reasonable doubt and that the convicts had failed to extricate themselves from the self-evidenced proofs before the court. THE IMO STATE GOVERNMENT REINSTATES LAW ON COMMERCIAL VEHICLE COLOUR CODE.[PHOTO].#PRESS RELEASE.

The Imo State Government has reinstated her law on commercial vehicle's colour code as enacted by the State House of Assembly in 2007. The law which prescribed that all commercial vehicles operating across the state be painted in the following colour - Blue colour code 3011, to be painted down;  White colour code 797 to be painted up; Red colour code 555 to be painted as two red lines running from the boot to the bonnet.  This move by the Shared Prosperity administration of His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is in line with the commitment towards ensuring that Imo state is crime-free. The colour code law is being enforced together with the newly introduced data capturing and enrollment of all commercial vehicle owners / operators for identification purposes.
