 Anambra Man Heeds Governor Obiano's Aku Luo Uno Call, Builds Polytechnic In Oba By Ejike Abana (ABS Goverment House Correspondent) In response to Governor Willie Obiano's Aku Luo Uno Call, a private interest has instituted a private tertiary institution known as Grundtvig Polytechnic in Oba. The maiden matriculation ceremony of the higher institution which was held in Oba was attended by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, the Rector Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr Francisca Nwafulugo, among others. Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Governor commended the initiative and expressed his belief in education as the key to success. A Federal High Court Ikoyi has refused requests by 11 political parties to halt the holding of the Chairmen and Councillors election into the 57 Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State. Honourable Justice Akintayo Aluko made the decision in a ruling delivered this morning, 23rd July 2021 in Suit No FHC/L/CS/596/2021 which was filed by the Alliance of Social Democrats & 10 Other Political Parties against Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) and Lagos State Government. Justice Aluko in the ruling upheld the submissions of the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) on behalf of the Lagos State Government.  The Court declined jurisdiction to hear and determine the suit seeking to stop the conduct of the election coming up tomorrow 24th July 2021.  A former bank cashier, Ebenezer Adeolu Alonge alongside his wife, Isakunle Olamide Oyinlola and his mother-in-law, Isakunle Eunice Moradeke were on Friday,  July 23, 2021, convicted and sentenced to Sixty (60) years imprisonment by Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye of Ekiti State  High Court, Ado Ekiti on a 12-count charge of conspiracy and stealing contrary to section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws Cap 16 Laws of Ekiti State,2012  brought against them by the Ibadan Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Justice Ogunmoye, in his judgement, ruled that the prosecution team led by  Abdulrasheed Lanre Suleiman proved their case beyond reasonable doubt and that the convicts had failed to extricate themselves from the self-evidenced proofs before the court. Justice F. A. Olubanjo of the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State on Thursday, July 22 convicted and sentenced Gift Kenneth, Dora Animam and Spice Chimzi Dandy Igwe to prison for internet-related fraud. Kenneth, his biological mother, Animam and girlfriend, Igwe were arraigned on one count charge each by the Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for offences bordering on impersonation and obtaining by false pretences.  They were said to have conspired to defraud an American lady, Lucinda Ann Garnes Henrichson of an  aggregate sum of $902,935 The charge against Gift Kenneth reads: "that you Gift Kenneth (a.k.a Raymond Carl Eric ) on or about the year 2018 and 2019 at Agbor within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did fraudulently impersonate the identity of one Raymond Carl Eric by which you propose an Infrastructural Investment Project to one Lucinda Ann Garnes Henrichson living in Texas, United States of America and thereby in...

FUTMINNA graduating student rocks "Cheated in every exam" t-shirt A final year student in the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA), has rocked a shirt which read, “Cheated in every exam”, for his signing out.____ This is coming after a UNIBEN student pulled a similar stunt. Peace Ufuoma a student of UNIBEN is currently being investigated by her school authorities for wearing a shirt that said, “Aggressive malpractice brought me this far”. Her department has already constituted a committee to probe her results after a video had gone viral on social media which featured the young lady, Peace Ufuoma, wearing a shirt that reads ‘aggressive malpractice brought me this far’. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has commissioned a newly constructed office accommodation at the Headquarters, Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.  Commissioning the completed project, the COAS stated that the new facility is to provide befitting offices to meet demands of the recent expansion and restructuring of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI.  He further explained  that the facility will provide a conducive environment for the staff officers and administrative staff to perform their duties in the theatre. The Lagos Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on July 19, 2021 arraigned one Ahmed Soetan Adebola before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos. The Imo State Government has reinstated her law on commercial vehicle's colour code as enacted by the State House of Assembly in 2007. The law which prescribed that all commercial vehicles operating across the state be painted in the following colour - Blue colour code 3011, to be painted down;  White colour code 797 to be painted up; Red colour code 555 to be painted as two red lines running from the boot to the bonnet.  This move by the Shared Prosperity administration of His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is in line with the commitment towards ensuring that Imo state is crime-free. The colour code law is being enforced together with the newly introduced data capturing and enrollment of all commercial vehicle owners / operators for identification purposes. The restriction is to enable the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) conduct hitch-free elections into positions of Chairmen and Councillors in all the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas. Fake Customs Officer Bags 20Years for Employment Scam in Ilorin Justice Mahmood Abdulgafar of Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Thursday, July 22, 2021 sentenced a self-styled customs officer, Yakubu Azeez Afolayan, to twenty years imprisonment having found him guilty of offences bordering on impersonation and job scam.
