The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Governor Soludo Re-Constitutes Anambra State Power Committee Anambra State Government has re-constituted the state power committee. Governor Chukwuma Soludo during the event at Government House, Awka, charged the members of the committee to be responsive to the task ahead in ensuring that the urban areas in the state meet up to 24 hour power supply. The committee has Engineer Chike Okonkwo as Chairman and Nwabufo Nwankwo as Secretary.  Members of the Committee are: Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engineer Julius Chukwuemeka, Engineer Geoffrey Nwokoy, Dr. Chukwueloka Umeh, Engineer Vincent Obiorah, Engineer George Chiatula, Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, Engineer Ugochukwu Ifediora and Barrister Titus Akpudo.  The committee has its terms of reference as conducting power flow and demand forecast studies to ascertain the adequacy of the current supply in the state, determine the optimal siting of power infrastructure to mitigate the identified inadequacies and support future load grow

El-Rufai Moves To Demolish 3 "Terrorists Villages" On Abuja-Kaduna Road Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said the state government may relocate or clear three communities along Kaduna Abuja highway due to activities of informants in the areas. The Communities identified are Rijana, Kateri and Akilibu villages all located along the major highway linking the state and federal capital territory. According to the governor, most of the high profile kidnappings and abductions happen near these three dangerous spots. He said there were concerns of informants residing in those communities were working for bandits. DANISH CITIZEN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER OF HIS NIGERIAN WIFE AND DAUGHTER.(PHOTOS).

A Lagos High Court on Friday sentenced a Dane, Peter Nielsen, to death by hanging for killing his Nigerian wife and daughter. The judge, Bolanle Okikiolu-Ighile convicted Mr Nielsen, 54, on two counts of murder brought against him by the Lagos State Government. The judge sentenced Mr Nielsen to death by hanging on both counts. The Dane was charged with the death of his wife and singer, Zainab, and their three-year-old daughter, Petra. The Lagos State government accused him of smothering his wife and child to death at 3.45 a.m. at No. 4, Flat 17, Bella Vista Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos State. Mr Nielsen was arraigned on June 13, 2018. He pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of murder contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.. More photos below.

Court Jails George Turnah Four Years in Port Harcourt Justice A.T Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Friday, May 20, 2022 convicted and sentenced a former Special Assistant to Mr. Dan Abia, erstwhile Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Goerge Turnah , to four years imprisonment. Alabh, who was prosecuted by the Port Harcourt’s Zonal Command of the EFCC, between 2017 and 2022, for obtaining money by false pretence, money laundering and abuse of office, was jailed for failure to make full disclosure of his assets in his disclosure to the EFCC. He was arraigned, together with his wife, Jennifer Tinipre Turnah, on four- count amended charges.

BENUE POLICE PROSECUTE 20 SUSPECTED CULTISTS Benue State Police Command, on Thursday, said it has charged 20 suspected cultists to court. In a statement issued and made available to newsmen in Makurdi, the Command Public Relations Officer, SP, Catherine Anene said that the suspects were apprehended at North Bank and Wurukum in Makurdi, the state capital. The PPRO said the arrest of the suspects was made possible following the deployment of officers to the areas about three weeks ago. The Delta State Branch Controller of CBN, Mr Godwin Okafor, stated this on Friday at the popular Ogbogonogo market during the market sensitisation on e-Naira. President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law, the recently passed National Health Insurance Authority Bill 2022, repealing thereby, the National Health Insurance Scheme Act, Cap N42, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. President Buhari said at the signing of the new law that a Fund will be set up “to ensure coverage of 83 million poor Nigerians who cannot afford to pay premiums as recommended by the Lancet Nigeria Commission.” He then went on to elaborate on how the Fund will be sourced: “For the large number of vulnerable individuals who are not able to pay health insurance premiums, a Vulnerable Group Fund will be set up to include a component of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund due to the Authority, Health Insurance Levy, Special Intervention Fund, and any investment proceeds, donations and gifts to the Authority.” The President

In setting the records straight, it would be recalled that 81 Division recently arrested several impostors posing as military personnel, who were paraded before the media and subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police for further necessary action. Preliminary investigations conducted on the impostors revealed that most of them acquired their military accoutrements from illegal vendors within Lagos. TROOPS CLEAR IPOB/ESN ENCLAVE, CAPTURE CACHE OF ARMS, AMMUNITION IN IMO Troops of 34 Brigade, Nigerian Army(NA) have captured a cache of arms and ammunition belonging to elements of the dissident group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network(ESN), after a gun battle at Amaifeke-Akkatta Road in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state.  The fire arms and ammunition were recovered during troops' operations to clear separatists' hideouts in the general area of Amaifeke - Akkatta road.  Troops uncovered the weapons concealed in a black Toyota Camry, after they successfully surmounted ambushes staged by members of the outlawed dissident group, who, having been overpowered by the gallant troops, abandoned their vehicle and weapons in the heat of the combat and fled the scene. Former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano are presently in the US.  This was him arriving Atlanta airport on a delta business class Wednesday night in company of his wife.  Remember he was previously arrested by the EFCC over alleged mismanagement of public funds while in office.
