      The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has raised concerns over the increasing cases of fake Non-Governmental Organizations, NGOs and Civil Society groups in Borno State taking advantage of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, warning that they will not be spared by the Commission. Speaking through the Head, Maiduguri Zonal Office of the EFCC, Lawrence Iwodi, Magu noted that it  was unfortunate that some individuals were taking advantage of the plights of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in the state, by exploiting them through fake NGOs. Iwodi expressed the concerns during a familiarization visit to the Executive Director of the Civil Society Organizations in Maiduguri, Borno State.      Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday defied the downpour to inspect the Rice Mill and Industrial Park project being developed by the state government at Imota in Ikorodu Division of the state. The inspection tour of the project site, Gov. Sanwo-Olu said, is in fulfillment of his promise to continue all unfinished projects initiated by previous administrations. The Governor was joined on the inspection by his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola. Sanwo-Olu said the visit was to assess the progress of the project and also to get the contractor’s confidence on the completion date. Describing the project as “capital intensive and strategic”, the Governor said the rice mill would be the biggest in the country when completed.       The nightmare being experienced by commuters on Agric-Ishawo and Igbogbo Roads in Ikorodu area of Lagos State will soon be a thing of the past, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu declared on Thursday. The Governor said he felt the pains of residents plying the abandoned routes, but disclosed that contractors would be fully mobilised for reconstruction work on the two roads, which he described as “critical” to the state ’s economic wellbeing. Sanwo-Olu made the revelation while on an inspection tour of Rice Mill and Industrial Park project being developed by the state government at Imota. He said: “We are aware of two major critical roads that are in Ikorodu Division; the Igbogbo Road and Agric-Ishawo Road.       The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM,mni has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault on a female Nigerian by Senator Abbo Elisha. Specifically, the IGP directed the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, CP Bala Ciroma to provide a personal and round-the-clock supervision of every facet of the investigation, including the Forensic analysis of the video currently in circulation as well as the actions/inactions of the Policeman seen in the video footage. The IGP, while assuring citizens of utmost professionalism by the Police in the handling of the matter, promised that the Force will ensure that justice is manifestly done in this case irrespective of whose ox is gored.
