 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. ENUGU STATE POLICE COMMAND BULLETIN OF 28TH AUGUST, 2022 SUDDEN AND UNNATURAL DEATH OF SIX IN ADANI, UZO-UWANI LGA; CP AMMANI ORDERS FULL-SCALE INVESTIGATION, COMMISERATES WITH FAMILIES AND FRIENDS OF VICTIMS Following the receipt of a report alleging the Sudden and Unnatural Death (SUD) of six (6) persons and the hospitalization of eight (8) others, at Akutara Village in Adani Community of Uzo-Uwani LGA, on 27/08/2022 at about 0930hrs, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, has ordered the State CID Enugu to launch a full-scale investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death and hospitalization of the victims. ARMY DISMISSES TWO SOLDIERS OVER KILLING OF ISLAMIC CLERIC IN YOBE  ... soldiers to face civil prosecution The Nigerian Army(NA) has dismissed from service, two soldiers, Lance Corporal John Gabriel and Lance Corporal Adamu Gideon, allegedly involved in the killing of an Islamic cleric, Sheik Goni Gashua Aisami in Yobe state. The soldiers were dismissed after facing trial at the Headquarters 241 Recce Battalion, Nguru on Saturday 27 August 2022, having been indicted in a report of a Board of Inquiry set up to investigate the unfortunate incident. Both soldiers were charged and summarily tried for Failure to perform military duties and Conduct prejudice to service discipline, punishable under Section 62(a) of Armed Forces Act CAP A20 and Section 103(1) of Armed Forces Act CAP A20 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004. Fake army captain who poses as a modeling agent to rob female models apprehended in Lagos Detectives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a fake Army Captain, Andy Teddy Edwards, ‘m’ aged 39 for armed robbery.    The fake soldier, who poses as a modeling agent, would invite ladies for auditioning and then rob them of their cars and valuables at gunpoint. He was arrested following a painstaking investigation that was launched after one of his victims reported the robbery of her Lexus RX330 SUV.  Items recovered from him include one Ford Edge SUV with registration number KRD 276 EG, one sewing machine, one POS machine with six SIM cards, two pairs of military camouflage uniform, and one number plate - AFL 469 GD, in the suspect’s house.  Confirming the arrest to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, says investigation is ongoing and has called on the owner of the Ford SUV to come forward to claim it. Thousands of religious and right-wing opponents of a European gay Pride event to be hosted by Belgrade protested through the Serbian capital on Sunday, even though the government has said it would scrap or delay the Pride event. Belgrade is due to host the EuroPride march on Sept. 17, an event staged in a different European city each year. But President Aleksandar Vucic said on Saturday it would be cancelled or postponed, citing reasons such as threats from right-wing activists.  Sunday's protest against the EuroPride event, held during a procession to mark a religious holiday, was led by clergy from the Serbian Orthodox Church, some of whose bishops say the Pride event threatens traditional family values and should be banned. Bandits Kill Soldier, Abduct Zimbabwean, 1 Other In Kaduna Bandits in large numbers invaded a farm in Anchau town of Kubau local government area of Kaduna State at the weekend, killed a soldier and abducted two officials of the farm.   LEADERSHIP gathered that one of the civilians abducted is a Zimbabwean national while the other is a Nigerian. It was gathered that the bandits had entered an agreement after multi-million naira levy on Kaduna farmers to allow them farm had been breached. The bandits according to a source invaded the company around 1:30pm on Wednesday. ‎A vigilante member working in the community identified the Zimbabwean as Mr Charles Choko. ‎“They bandits attacked and killed a soldier working in the farm any and also Kidnapped one Mr Charles Choko from Zimbabwe and one Yusuf Aliyu Bello from Kano state,” he said. INEC Warns Against Campaigns In Churches, Mosques, Violators Risk Imprisonment Exactly one month to the commencement of campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission has warned political parties and candidates against the use of masqueraders, public facilities and religious centres for campaigns. The commission asked political parties to align strictly with the provisions of the Electoral Act to avoid sanctions as stipulated by the Act. INEC had fixed September 28 for the commencement of campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly, while the elections would hold on February 25, 2023.
