  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, has secured the conviction and sentencing of one Augustine Ighodalo to five years imprisonment for criminal offence bordering on retention of proceeds to the tune of $1,049,251.84 (One Million, Forty-nine Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty-one United States Dollars, Eighty-four Cent) before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos. The convict was arraigned on September 26, 2019 on a three-count charge bordering on “transfer of criminal proceeds to a nominee”, following intelligence report received by the Commission from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, FBI.

      Justice Saliu Saidu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday, October 7, 2019, ordered the temporary forfeiture of four bank drafts totalling N37.5m and a hotel, La Diva, belonging to Calistus Obi, a former acting Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA. Justice Saidu gave the order, following an ex parte application filed by the Economic an d Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, through its counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo. The hotel, which is located at Block V, Phase V and Plot11, Core Area, Asaba, Delta State, comprises 22 rooms, a lobby bar, a restaurant, a kitchen, a swimming pool, a 350-seater hall, a gymnasium and a parking lot sitting on a 3000-metre square of land. Justice Saidu adjourned the case to November 4, 2019 for further hearing.

     An act of kindness rendered to a robbery victim by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Ogudu Police Station in Lagos was on Monday rewarded by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who personally invited the kind hearted police officer to the State House for an honour. Sanwo-Olu described Mrs. Celestina Kalu, a Superintendent of Police (SP), as “a humane police officer”, saying her decision to save the life of an orphan, Friday Ajabor, shot by a two-man robbery gang in Ojota, was a “matchless trait of compassion”. Ajabor, a 25-year-old orphan from Edo State, was at the Ojota with his friend at about 8pm on September 19 when two men of the underworld waylaid them, attempting to dispossess them of their valuables. They struggled with the robbers, until the assailants overpowered them. The Real Story The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has been drawn to several online reports alleging that about N900 million (Nine Hundred Million Naira) of mutilated naira notes, being subject of prosecution at the Federal High Court, Ibadan, and kept in several boxes in EFCC's custody has turned to paper. The report is very mischievous and a gross misrepresentation of facts of the matter. It is imperative to note that the case was reported to the EFCC by the CBN in 2015 and the parties involved are currently in court. In the course of investigations, EFCC operatives visited the CBN office in Ibadan to inspect the said boxes and discovered that the monies had been tampered with. This discovery was what informed the EFCC's involvement in the case, resulting in interrogation of suspects and subsequent prosecution.       A ghastly motor accident occurred at about 15.00hrs Sunday October 6,2019 around Obasanjo Farm, along Abeokuta-Ifo road ,Ogun State . Within seconds, The Road Safety Commander (pix left), M A Ajayi, who is an Asst. Route Commander, RS2.2 Ogun State Command drove in with his team following an alert they received from a motorist who saw the accident as it happened. The wounded passengers were so many for the Commander"s car to convey them to the hospital. Ajayi was just too impatient to negotiate for and wait for the arrival of an ambulance! He dashed to the road and stopped this man (Pix left) Mr Thomas Pedepo, who was traveling in his Hilux Van to Badagry. Pedepo volunteered his vehicle and suspended his trip to Badagry. And Within seconds, the victims were put in the two vehicles and Pedepo and Ajayi raced against time to the hospital. 39YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING A MONTH OLD BABY ON SATURDAY IN MOWE,OGUN STATE.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     Police in ogun state on 5th of October 2019 apprehended a 39 year old man Olakunle Agbaje for stealing a two month old baby at no 32 odukoya street Adesan in mowe area of obafemi owode local government. The arrest of the suspect followed a distress call received by the police in mowe division headquarters that a woman Marufu Taiwo was sleeping in her room at Adesan area of mowe when the suspect who resides at no 13 Dennis street Arigbawonwo sneaked into her room and took the baby boy from her side. While the suspect was tiptoeing out of the room, the mother of the child woke up and raised alarm consequent upon which distress call was made to the police.
