  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.         The Benin Zonal office of the EFCC on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, arraigned a suspected fraudster, Favour Eyawie Isikhuanele a.k.a Mr Atekhame, before Justice Efe lkponmwonba of the State High Court, Benin City ,Edo State on a one count charge bordering on intent to defraud. Isikhuanele was alleged to have received the sum of Fifty Eight thousand , Five Hundred Naira (N58,500) from one Silifatus Ohigweni Abu under the pretence that the money was to process employment letter for the victim.

      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 secured the conviction and sentencing of Prof. Benjamin Adefemi Ogunbodede, a former Director-General, Institute of Agriculture Research and Training, IART, Ibadan, Oyo State before Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State. Ogunbodede had been prosecuted alongside the trio of Zacheaus Tejumo la, Adenose Clement and Jalekun Omotowoju on a 17-count charge bordering on conspiracy, misappropriation and diversion of funds to the tune of N177 million. Trouble started for the convicts following receipt of a petition dated December 17, 2012 written by the Academic staff Union of the institute by the Commission. The petitioners had alleged that Ogunbodede falsely claimed to have used the sum of N115million to pay hazard allowance to the members of staff of the institute in December 2013.          The EFCC, on October 3, 2017 confronted a former Taraba State governor, Jolly Nyame, with documents challenging his testimony in court, and his claim that he was never involved in state transactions, which formed the basis of his N1.64 billion fraud trial. Nyame, who took to the dock to defend himself, after Justice Adebukola Banjoko, of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, Gudu, on February 14,  2017 dismissed his “no-case” submission, had exonerated himself during his evidence-in-chief, led by his counsel, Olalekan Ojo, denying all the charges. Testifying as the 4th defence witness, Nyame had on September 20, 2017 described as “the figment of his imagination”, testimony of the 8th prosecution witness, Abdulrahman Mohammed, an accountant with the state, who in court testified that he brought N24.3 million cash “meant for purchase of grains” to the former governor.

      Dr. David Oyedepo , the Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, says Nigeria will not breakup in spite of its present challenges. He said this in a satellite telecast of the church’ s prayer session monitored by the News Agency of Nigeria in Jos on Monday . The Bishop had led the church in a 30 - minute breakfast prayer for the country. Oyedepo said it was made known to him via divine revelation in 1979 while praying for the well- being of the country that Nigeria would never disintegrate. “The good news is that Nigeria will rise again to glory ,” he assured .       Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has assured the current students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, that the creation of the Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology (MAUSTECH), as well as the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia, will not in any way disrupt the existing academic calendar of their institution. Amosun gave the assurance, while addressing students of MAPOLY, who staged a peace ful protest to his office, to express their grievances over the refusal of their lecturers to conduct their examination, three weeks after it was scheduled to hold. Describing the action of the lecturers as a ploy to hold the government to ransom, he assured that the representatives of the institution will be invited immediately to give reasons for their decision.       On sunday October 1st was my country Nigeria independence day.Alot of people wore green and white to church,even on social media alot of white and green outfit was displayed.Instead of wearing Green and White,i decided to wear a colour blocking gown,that have green,peach and black.My necklace green colour is the same with the gown green,but because the necklace is shining,it appears as if its different green on camera.The necklace am putting on is green and white,and that is how i want to show off my independence look.Am so proud of my country Nigeria so rocking my country's flag might not be a problem,but as a fashionista '' With A Twist'' should always be at the back of our minds.I know am 5.9 but the gown really made me look very tall as if am 6ft because of the black and brown wedge I was wearing {blocking the dress & wedge},I also wore a green mirror sunglasses,two Roman silver bangles,then carried a fur black purse.More photos below.

       Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday urged parents, guardians and caregivers to watch out for drug addiction signs in their children and wards, saying the negative impact of drug abuse is not only harmful to the victims but can threaten the peace of the society. Speaking in Araga-Epe while commissioning the Christ Against Drug Abuse Ministry (CADAM) Rehabilitation Centre of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Governor Ambode said it was important for parents to be vigilant as victims of drug addiction can be easily lured into crime which would ultimately threaten peace and development. He lauded RCCG and its leadership for deeming it fit to join the fight against the menace of drug abuse, just as he assured that the State Government would support the initiative to achieve the desired results. KWARA STATE GOVERNOR ABDULFATAH AHMED APPROVES MINOR CABINET RESHUFFLE TODAY.

         The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle involving four commissioners to re-energise  governance in the state. According to a statement by the Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Sola Gold, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed  approved the movement of Engineer Idris Garba from the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Industry and Solid Mineral Resources while  Alhaja Fumilayo Isiaka Oniwa moves from Ministry of Industry and Solid  Mineral Resources to the Ministry of Commerce and Cooperatives. Continuing, the Secretary to the State Government said Alhaji Ahmed Muhumamed Rifun is posted from the Ministry of Commerce and  Cooperatives to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development whose erstwhile Commissioner, Hon. Muideen Olaniyi Alalade, is now in charge of the Ministry of Energy. Alhaji Gold said all the postings are with immediate effect.

ANAMBRA ELECTION: NGO TO DEPLOY PVT TO MONITOR CREDIBILITY OF ANAMBRA GUBER POLL.

       A group, Youth Initiative for Advocacy, Growth and Advancement (YIAGA) has said it would deploy the Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) methodology to ensure the fairness of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State. The group stated this in a media roundtable it held with some journalists in Awka, Wednesday. The group’s head of training, Mr Paul James who spoke to journalists at the event said YIAGA would deploy 500 already trained election observers to polling units selected through a random sampling method to ensure that the process was fully monitored. He also added that 27 local government coordinators would be in the various local government areas to monitor and coordinate the activities of the observers and ensure prompt transmission of information to the group’s data center which would be set up in Awka before the election. He explained that PVT is an advanced election monitoring process that uses statistics and information communication technology
