EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Innoson Chairman Gifts New Bishop Of Nnewi Catholic Diocese, Benson, Brand New IVM SUV The Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma OFR, this evening (09/02/22), gifted the new Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Bishop Jonas - Benson Okoye, a brand new IVM G80 SUV.  This was at the Gala night and dinner organised in the Bishop’s honour preceding his Installation as the Bishop of Nnewi diocese on Thursday, 10th February, 2022.  Congratulations to the Bishop.  More photos below. 

VETERAN ACTOR ROMANUS AMUTA "NATTY" IN NEW MASQUERADE IS DEAD.(PHOTOS).#RIP.

Veteran actor, Romanus Amuta, popularly known as ‘Natty’ in the foremost soap, ‘New Masquerade’ is dead. The New Masquerade was one of the most popular soaps of the 1980s. Amuta died on February 9, 2022 at the age of 79 after a protracted sickness. The first son of the deceased, Dr Chukwuma Amuta, confirmed the death of the veteran Nollywood actor in Enugu. Amuta described the actor as a caring father who did his best to raise his children. “Yes! My father died this morning in Lagos after a protracted illness,” he said. The deceased hailed from Ukana in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. He worked with Daily Times Newspapers before venturing into the movie industry. Amuta also acted in some Nollywood movies including Lion Finger in 2003, Eagles Bride in 2005 and Ijele in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Cordelia and six children.  One more photo below.

Anambra Police Nab Man Who Allegedly Murdered His Girlfriend Police in Anambra have arrested Ikenna Asiegbu, who allegedly killed his 22 year-old girlfriend in Mgbakwu, Awka North Local government area of Anambra State. Mrs Ngozi Nwude, who witnessed the crime told neighbours that the man had a violent relationship with the girl.  According to her, the victim “has been living with the suspect. She is a native of Enugwu - Agidi in Njikoka LGA of the state, but her mother is from Mgbakwu. The boy has the habit of beating her in the past”.  Other witnesses said that the suspect, Ikenna Asiegbu was allegedly beating the girl when she collapsed and was taken to the hospital where doctors confirmed her dead. Angry youths in Mgbakwu upon seeing the corpse, descended on the suspect, and beat him to stupor. A former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (Retd.), has said the country is sinking in the hands of autocrats, mediocre, ethnic champions, incompetent and visionless actors. Babangida stated this when he received the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorcha Ayu, at his Uphill Residence alongside the members of the National Working Committee of the party. “If we have failed to adequately manage the complexities of the competitive party and electoral politics since independence, we now have a golden opportunity at our present crossroads to turn in the direction of pursuing politics as a public interest project, in line with moral and statutory provisions of article 13 and article 14 of the constitution of Nigeria,” he said.

MAPOLY Student Bags Seven Months Jail Term for Impersonation The Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC, on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing of a 24-year-old student of Computer Science at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Adebowale Babatunde Ismail, to seven months imprisonment before Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State for the offence of criminal impersonation. The offence is contrary to Section 22 (2) (b) (ii) of Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act, 2015, and punishable under Section 22 (2) (b) of the same Act. The defendant fraudulently represented himself as Annabel Torrens to one John Dauherty through an email address: dsprinklse@gmail.com in order to take advantage of his victim. Upon his arraignment, he pleaded ‘guilty’ to the one count charge.

N3m Land Scam: EFCC Arraigns Man Who Defrauds In- Law  The Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC, on February 9, 2022, arraigned Yakubu Musa before.Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna for criminal misappropriation. The defendant allegedly collected the sum of N3million from one Mr. Thalmon Friday sometime in 2014, for a plot of land at Mahuta area in Kaduna State but diverted the fund as the complainant who happens to be his in-law neither got the said land nor a refund.

One Dead As Car Rams Into Parked Dump Truck In Awka It was a tragic evening in Awka, around the Dr Godwin Maduka Foundation axis of new Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, after a Toyota Camry Spider rammed into a dump truck parked beside the expressway, leaving one person dead. According to bystanders and eyewitnesses, the Toyota Camry driver had lost speed, then ran over a man as it made its way to the parked dump truck. The victim, a man in his late thirties, simply identified as Ebuka, was said to had alighted from a commercial bus, minutes before the tragedy. The victim, who was smashed into the drainage on the side of the road died instantly, while the driver of the Toyota Camry who was said to be in critical condition, was rushed to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, same as the body of the deceased. Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, alongside other persons were around to help. More photos below.

TROOPS NEUTRALIZE NOTORIOUS IPOB/ESN GUNMAN EJIKE, THREE OTHERS IN ANAMBRA Troops of Nigerian Army (NA)have neutralized four Indigenous Peoples of Biafra/ Eastern Security Network gunmen at Ihiala town in  Anambra State. The gunmen who were out enforcing the illegally imposed sit-at-home order fired sporadically in and around a filling station in Ihiala town. On receipt of a distress call, troops of the NA launched out to the location to restore normalcy. On intercepting the dissidents, a fire fight ensued and the gallant troops neutralized their leader, Ejike and three others. Items recovered from the gunmen during the encounter include one motorcycle, two pump action double barrel guns, 12 live cartridges and substances suspected to be cannabis amongst others. Sadly, one combat vehicle conveying troops was involved in an accident during the operation following a technical fault.
