  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.                       According to CCTV,a Namibian schoolboy in the country's Ohagwena Region has come up with a simless mobile phone that does not require airtime to make calls.The Grade 12 learner,Simon Petrus,a pupil at Abraham Iyambo Senior Secondary School created the phone using spares from a phone and television set.Complete with a light bulb,fan and charger socket,the handset functions off power supplied through a radiator and is able to make calls to anywhere through the use of radio frequencies.The inention,which is made up of a radio system,is attached to a box and also allows the user to view one TV channel on it.Petrus is reported to have won a gold medal at national level last year for his invention of a two-in-one machine that works as both a seed drier and cooler.His invention of two years has been highly sponsored by his unemployed parents,the schoolboy admitted and he hopes the invention would be successful and be able to be carried further.The development marks t

                 A ten year old boy and 11 year Nigerian girl,were pictured above crying after their mother died in Libya on their way to Europe.The two Nigerian children were among 150 sub-saharan refugees and migrants who were rescued from their overcrowded boat off the coast of Libya while tying to cross the Mediterranean ocean into Italy by a Spanish NGO's boat.A leading migration group says more than 3,000 people have died trying to cross the Mediterranean this year,nearly a 60-percent increase from this time in 2015.More photos below.                                                                                     ,

                             Cocaine worth $3,551,770 was found hidden in a sugar container at the Kenya port of Mombasa.An anonymous source told some pressmen that ''There are four containers which have been seized.One of them has been confirmed to contain cocaine.The operation is still on to verify the other containers.The containers are still being detained at the port with investigations underway.

                     The Lagos State Government has declared that the July 2016 Environmental Sanitation Environmental Sanitation Exercise will hold tomorrow saturday 30th July and be dedicated to cleaning of drains and canals across the state,to allow for free flow of water as the rainy season nears its peak.The Commissioner for the Environment,D Babatunde Adejare,in a press statement,stated that the Sanitation Exercise will be observed State-wide between the usual hours of 7:00am-10:00am during which,as usual,there will be restriction of human and vehicular movement across the State.Dr Adejare implored Lagosians to come out en-mass to clean and clear canals in their neighbourhood so as to continually prevent flooding in the State and warned that the period of environmental sanitation should not be used for any social engagement or sporting activity.According to him ''As we are all aware,Lagos is a coastal City that has high water table levels and is prone to flash-floods when

                 It was reputed today that Nigerian troops returning from Bama on humanitarian escort duty,were ambushed enroute Maiduguri by suspected remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in Meleri village,a few kilometres from Kawuri.The gallant troops however,successfully cleared the ambush and exploited up to Afunori.Unfortunately,2 soldiers and 3 civilians were wounded in the ambush,among whom were staff of the United Nations agencies and other international humanitarian organizations.The wounded have been evacuated to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital,Maiduguri and they are in stable condition.The Nigerian Army wishes to sympathize with wounded colleagues,the united nations and other Non-governmental organizations whose personel were also injured in this sad incident.We wish to reiterate our determination and commitment of ensuring safety and security in the North East and safeguarding the lives of all persons.-Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,Acting Director Army Public
