 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. LASG INVESTIGATING COLLAPSED BUILDING IN BANANA ISLAND  A 7-floor building under construction collapsed in Banana Island, Lagos State, this evening.  The victims of the building collapse who sustained injuries are receiving immediate medical attention.While we are able to confirm at this time, that there is no fatality. The unfortunate incident happened while workers at the site were involved in some casting work.  The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins was at site of the incident to assess the situation and flag off an immediate investigation into the cause of the building collapse.   We ask members of the public to remain calm and expect further information from the Ministry.

KDSG Security Update: Wednesday 12th April 2023.  Air strikes neutralize fleeing bandits in Birnin Gwari LGA At around 9:44am, the Ministry received a distress call of armed bandits attacking Sabon Layi village in Birnin Gwari LGA.  It was confirmed that the bandits were shooting, rustling cattle, looting properties and committing other heinous crimes, a situation which had residents scampering for safety.  Immediately, the  Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch was contacted for action, and the unit responded promptly to the location.  On arrival at Sabon Layi, a thorough scan revealed normal human activities at the reported location. However, about four kilometers North of Sabon Layi village, the bandits were sighted fleeing for cover from the aircraft. They were engaged and neutralized in several passes.  No further movement was observed after the strike. The television, which is under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), is to ensure the effective dissemination of information on scientific, technological and innovations in the sector. Minister of STI, Sen. Adeleke Mamora, who commissioned the project in Abuja said the station would educate and entertain as well as publicize scientific discoveries, inventions, and achievements of the various parastatals under the Ministry. Building Collapses In Lagos, Workers Trapped A three-storey building under construction on Banana Island, Lagos State, has collapsed, trapping several workers. We  learnt that emergency responders are being mobilised to the scene of the building collapse. Though some people said is a 8-storey building but the Lagos Territorial Head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the incident in a brief update Wednesday evening. “A report of 3 Storey building under construction was just received at Banana Island. Workers trapped. We are mobilising to respond,” he said. The incident is the latest in the rampant cases of building collapse in the state in recent years. DOCTORS DEMAND SALARY REVIEW BEFORE MAY 29.(PHOTO).

Doctors demand salary review before May 29 12 April 2023 As doctors working in England’s public health service, yesterday, began what has been described as the most disruptive strike in UK’s history over pay and working conditions, doctors in Nigeria, in same vein, have demanded a review of the Consolidated Medical Salary Scheme (CONMESS) and payment of revised 2023 medical residency training fund by the Federal Government before May 29 hand-over date. EFCC Arrests 11 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Maiduguri Operatives of the Maiduguri Zonal Command of Economic and Financial Crimes. EFCC, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, arrested 11 suspected Internet fraudsters in Jere and Maiduguri Local Government areas of Borno State. The suspects: Olatunji Sherif, Bright Felix, Jude Linus Magaji, Jonah Jondi, Ojobaro Abdullahi, Jerry Zizighi, Micah Joseph, Mari Ayuba, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Adam Abiodun, and Victor Chinonso Okolieaboh were arrested in a sting operation following credible intelligence on their alleged criminal activities. Items recovered at their residence included one Mercedes Benz GLK 350, a Toyota Corolla saloon car, smartphones, MTN 4G Wi-Fi, and power banks. Company Executive, One Other Convicted for Fraud in Maiduguri The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Muhammad Abdullahi Kulloma to one year imprisonment before Justice Umaru Fadawu of Borno State High Court, Maiduguri Kulloma was prosecuted on one count amended charge of cheating to the tune of N19, 950,000.00 (Nineteen Million Nine Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira). Y2023 HAJJ EXERCISE: LAGOS APPROVES N3.2M AS FARE    The Lagos State Government has approved the sum of N3,200,000.00 as the total fare to be paid by Intending Pilgrims performing the Year 2023 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.     The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, disclosed this at a meeting held with the intending pilgrims and other stakeholders at the Shamsi Adisa Thomas (SAT) Mosque, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, April, 2023.    While addressing the gathering, Elegushi stated that the breakdown of the total package, as announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), includes Hotel Accommodation, Cost of Airline and Basic Travel Allowance (BTA), amongst others.    He appealed to intending pilgrims who had initially deposited the sum of N2,640,000. 00 to commence payment of the balance sum of N560,000.00 on or before the 21st of April, 2023 which is the deadline given by NA

Uber driver caught on Camera attempting to rape young drunk female passenger  A new disturbing video shared online purportedly shows what appeared to be a male Uber driver trying to rape a young drunk female passenger, but his efforts were thwarted by a concerned man who stepped in and started filming him. In the footage, a man is seen approaching a vehicle during nighttime in a neighborhood  while recording himself saying, “Yo, what are you doing?.” As he moves the phone camera closer,  the male driver is seen in the backseat of the vehicle with his pants down, next to an unresponsive woman. After being asked the question on camera, the driver pulled up his pants and exited the vehicle.  While asking the man what he was doing in front of his house, the concerned individual panned his camera to show the scene, including a large “Uber” sticker plastered on the driver-side door. As the driver made his way back into the vehicle, the good samaritan put him on blast over the disgusting act
