 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

       The Seme Command of the Nigeria Customs Service continued anti-smuggling drive has led to the crackdown on the activities of deviant smugglers who have hitherto refused to heed to the clarion call/voice of the command to desist from cross border crimes through sensitization and creation of awareness under various platforms. The operatives of the command’s enforcement unit acting promptly on classified information, arrested two thousand two hundred (2200) cartons of Tin tomato in a truck with Reg. No. LND 759 XE along the Lagos-Badagry Express road on the 12th of February 2018. Sixty three (63) front and backlight of used spare parts (light accessories) were also intercepted on the 11th March 2018 in a Siena bus with Reg. No. KRO 530 EP along the Lagos-Badagry Express road. The goods with DPV of over 6 million were all deposited in the Government warehouse of the command.      One of my reporter Chinenye Genevieve is reporting today with photos that ''   On the 2nd of March, 2018, my mum and brother set off from Lagos to Anambra for my cousin's wedding. I called mum to know if they arrived safely and my brother picked and told me they did and that mum is resting. I thought it strange that my mum didn't call me but then maybe she was resting temporarily. Little did I know that the rest was eternal."My mother and brother where involved in a ghastly car accident en route to Anambra somewhere Benin. My mother died on the spot and my brother is presently hospitalised with bruises and a spinal cord injury and might be confined to a wheel chair for the rest of his life". NIGERIAN TROOPS APPREHEND 6 HERDSMEN DESTROYING FARMLAND AT KWATA SULE YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}.

      Troops of 707 Special Forces Brigade have arrested 6 herdsmen, caught in the act of farmland destruction. Troops while on patrol in the general area of Kwata Sule on 17 March 18 encountered the herdsmen in the act prompting their arrest. After initial interrogation, the suspects were handed over to the police for further action. Similarly, troops on patrol in the general area of Chembe, Tse-Gundu, Tse-Iordye and Sbaor settlemen ts sighted two herdsmen on motorcycle along Kwata Shaor river bank. Herdsmen abandoned their motorcycle and fled. On search of the general area, one round of 7.62mm special was discovered. Troops continue to dominate the general area with patrols. LOCATION OF OLUSOSUN DUMP SITE UNHEALTHY, AMBODE INSISTS.{PHOTO}

      Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode  on Friday  justified the decision of the State Government to shut down the Olusosun dumpsite in Ojota, saying the location of the facility was no longer healthy both for trading activities and residents living in the neighborhood. Governor Ambode, who spoke while addressing scavengers and other workers at the site following the outbreak of fire last Wednesday, said aside the negative health implication of the site to the people, the structure of the facility was also risky and susceptible to all forms of hazards like the fire outbreak. The Governor, who was visiting the site for the second time since the fire outbreak, said though it was gratifying that there was no casualty, the closure of the site became necessary owing to the need to forestall future occurrence and protect the health of residents. “You see what happened is not as if anybody put fire there.
