 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

LAGOS ENLISTS TWO MILLION RESIDENTS IN FIGHT AGAINST DOMESTIC,SEXUAL VIOLENCE

                The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) has begun a six-month intensified campaign against all forms of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in the State with a target to reach out to two million residents to lead the crusade against the menace. Coordinator of DSVRT, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi who disclosed this during a training session for Media Practioners on Best  Practices for Investigating and Reporting Sexual and Gender Based Violence cases, said the development was in a bid to ensure that no community is left behind in the fight against all forms of SGBV. According to her, the DSVRT would be embarking on intensive sensitisation campaigns at communities like Fagba, Ajuwon, Surulere, Ikeja, Kosofe, Ikorodu, Iwaya, Epe, Badagry, Onike, Ijanikin, Ojo, Idimu, Lagos Island, Alimosho and Agege.              The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Thursday said that in as much as it respect the Biafran elders and traditional title holders in Biafra land who are making different comments over its decision to boycott elections in Biafra land starting with Anambra state governorship election, unless it is given a date for Biafra referendum, it cannot be intimidated by such elders and traditional title holders, neither will they set agenda for IPOB. 3 KIDNAP KINGPINS,17 OTHERS KILLED AS ABDUCTED SCHOOLBOYS ARE RESCUED IN ONDO-LAGOS COMMISSIONER.{PHOTOS}.

              THE Police yesterday disclosed that 20 suspected kidnappers and one civilian were killed during the rescue operations of abducted pupils of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe. Commissioner Fatai Owoseni stated this at the Lagos House, Alausa, during a joint press briefing on the release of the pupils. He said three kingpins, including the mastermind of the pupils’ kidnap, Bright Idubo Adeniyi and a notorious militant, Oniweyi Eyelabo alias America, were killed in two operations. Owoseni also explained that the civilian who was killed was a member of the Joint Task Force, adding that eight policemen and four members that took part in the operations were wounded. He said: ”As long as you have human beings in a society, there must be security challenges. Government and security agencies acted swiftly in this incident. We were not letting out information to avoid criminals using same. ”We have talked against celebrating whether ransom was paid or not.
