 Chess master, Tunde Onakoya’s parents get house gift By Jide Ajia Chessmaster, Tunde Onakoya,  finds himself engulfed in emotions as an unnamed good Samaritan graciously gifted a house to his parents. The development is coming on the heels of Tunde’s breaking of the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon in New York. While the official verdict on Tunde’s record-breaking endeavoir remains pending, the spirit he exhibited throughout the marathon has already won him admiration and acclaim from far and wide. Overwhelmed by the gesture towards his parents, Onakoya took to his X handle to pour out his heartfelt gratitude on Friday. Despite his father’s initial skepticism towards his passion for chess, Onakoya acknowledged his unwavering support in myriad other ways. He wrote, “Today, an angel blessed my parents with a new home. RE: FAMILY OF THREE-YEAR OLD BOY WHO DIED IN LAGOS HOSPITAL DEMAND JUSTICE The attention of Lagos State Ministry of Health has been drawn to a news report in the Guardian Newspaper of Sunday, September 25, 2022 titled, ‘Family of Three-Year Old Boy who Died in Lagos Hospital Demand Justice’; wherein it was reported that a three-year old child died of negligence and misconduct at one of the Lagos State Government owned secondary care facilities, the Eti-Osa Maternal and Childcare Centre, Lekki-Ajah.   I would like to first and foremost express my heartfelt condolence to the family of the deceased and pray for the repose of the soul of the departed. The incident which occurred between Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th September, 2022 is rather unfortunate, and sad. Submerged Communities In Anambra West Council Cry Out For Help. People from the coastal communities in Anambra West Council area are crying out for urgent help from government at all levels to save them from floods which have submerged their communities. They cried out for help when the team of Anambra State Emeergency Management Agency, SEMA and National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA visited the communities for on the spot assessment. The communities visited include Odeh, Igbede, Odekpe, Odomagwu, Igbokenyi among others. More photos below.

SOLUDO CONDEMNS KILLING OF SOLDIERS IN UMUNZE, SAYS NO HIDING PLACE FOR PERPETRATORS Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR has strongly condemned the killing of soldiers who were ambushed on a routine patrol at Umunze by yet to be identified gun men in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State. "We condemn this wicked and cruel attack in the strongest terms. The perpetrators of this act must pay. We are not going to rest on our oars, including those people that attacked Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and the rest. There will be absolutely no hiding place for them". Governor Soludo vowed. "Going forward, our actions will show, as these people must surely pay for this heinous and repulsive attack", Governor Soludo further stressed. Kaduna Court Sends Five  Internet Fraudsters to Jail Justices A.A Bello and Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court,  sitting in Kaduna,  have convicted and sentenced five internet fraudsters to different terms of imprisonment.   The convicts: Vincent Solomon, Godwin Uchechukwu, Miracle Festus, Chibueze Michael Joseph and Danjuma Samuel Enoch,  were jailed on Monday,  September 26,  2022,  after pleading guilty to one-count separate charge,  bordering on internet fraud, upon their arraignment by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC. Gunmen kill five soldiers, one civilian in Anambra Gunmen have killed five soldiers and one unidentified civilian. The incident happened opposite one of the new generation banks in Umunze, Orumba South local government area. A source, who spoke with The Nation, the incident happened around 2pm on Wednesday. The soldiers, the source said, were in a Sienna vehicle when the hoodlums attacked them. The shooting sent panic to residents of the area. Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu told The Nation there was a shooting close to a bank in Umunze. He said the details had not been received, adding that the incident happened between 12-1.30 pm. He said the Command had deployed security operatives to secure the area, adding those responsible for such acts must regret it. One of the Senior Police Officers in the State, who pleaded anonymity, also confirmed it to newsmen

GOMBE STATE POLICE COMMAND DIARY: UPDATE ON PHYSICAL AND CREDENTIAL SCREENING EXERCISE FOR THE 9TH REGULAR INTAKE OF NIGERIA POLICE ACADEMY IN GOMBE : DAY: 3 Today 28/9/2022,the Commissioner of Police Gombe State Command CP Ishola Babatunde Babaita, Psc FDMSS paid an unscheduled visit at the venue of the ongoing police screening for the 9th Regular intake of the Nigeria Police Academy in Gombe for on the spot assessment.  POLICE ARREST TRAFFIC ROBBERS ON IKORODU ROAD  Operatives of Ketu Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three members of a traffic robbery gang notorious for dispossessing motorists of their belongings at Ile-Iwe/Kosofe, Ikorodu Road, in Ketu area of the State. The suspects namely Segun Olaiya ‘m’ aged 20, Ayinde Waris ‘m’ aged 19 and Bashiru Mohammed aged 28 were arrested on Monday, September 26, 2022 at about 1900hrs while attacking some motorists by policemen on covert operation in the area. The suspects are currently assisting the police in an ongoing investigation to arrest other members of their gang. Suspects would be arraigned at the conclusion of investigation. Court Affirms Machina As APC's Yobe North Senatorial Candidate, Directs INEC To Publish His Name. . . The Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe State Capital has declared Bashir Sheriff Machina as the APC's authentic senatorial candidate for Yobe North in the coming 2023 National Assembly elections and directed INEC to accept and publish his name accordingly. The declaration was made by the presiding judge, Justice Fadima Aminu.  In her verdict today, the Judge affirmed Machina as the duly and validly elected Yobe North senatorial candidate for APC thereby upholding the May 28 primary election of the Party that produced him.
