 Flash flood kill 41 in Morocco At least 41 people were killed in flash floods caused by heavy rainfall in Morocco on Sunday, authorities said on Monday. In the Atlantic coastal province of Safi, local authorities said in a statement that the death toll had risen to 37, with 14 injured people receiving treatment at local hospitals. In the southern province of Tinghir, four people were killed after their vehicle was swept away by strong currents and overturned into a river between the areas of Fezou and El Hafira, local news outlet Hibapress reported. The statement said the floods in Safi were caused by intense thunderstorms that occurred within about one hour. Dozens of homes and shops in the city of Safi were flooded, while vehicles were overturned or washed away by torrents. Roads were also damaged, leading to widespread traffic disruptions.                              Today monday,the Nigerian Health Commissioner in Ondo state Dayo Adeyanju said 23 people were affected but only 18 people died.They discovered that ethanol poisoning from a local gin-way have been responsible for the sudden death of the 18 people last week.''We strongly suspect ethanol poisoning and in view of this,we have ordered for another toxicology test for the surviving victims.Our investigations revealed that five of the victims took local gin mixed with herbs.Three of them died while the other two have been put under close observation.We will continue to monitor the situation.We are appealing to our people to report any case of sudden illness or death to the health authorities for immediate action''.Experts from the World Health Organization were in Ode Irele to investigate the ailment with a view to containing it.The global health body said yesterday sunday that pesticide poi...
