 Texas man arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage while flying to London, police say A Texas man was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage before he could board a flight to London. Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. Authorities noted the inspections were part of broader efforts at the airport due to high outbound narcotics activity. In total, Tiernan was carrying 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of marijuana.                  Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi,Lagos today wednesday,July 5,2017 dismissed the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by Robert Azibaols,a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan,against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC.Azibaola,through his counsel,Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa,had contended that the EFCC had no right under Sections 293 and 294 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act,ACJA,to detain him.In the suit,Azibaoba claimed that the Sections are for capital offences for which a legal advice from the Attorney-General is required before a charge could be filed.Azibaola further claimed that the Sections do not apply to financial crimes.The respondent {EFCC},however,argued that Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State 2011 empowers it to detain suspects based on remand warrants issued by magistrate courts.In a well considered rulin...

POLICE ARRESTED 2 SUSPECTED BANK ROBBERS IN ANAMBRA AFTER A FAILED ATTEMPT TO ROB UNION BANK.

                The Police in Anambra have arrested two suspected bank robbers following their failed attempt to rob Union Bank Nkpor branch near Onitsha.Mark Ijarafu,the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ogidi division,made the disclosure in an interview with journalists in Ogidi on Sunday.Mr Ijarafu said: ''a three-man robbery gang at about 1.00 a.m. on June 24,stormed one of the Union bank branches located at Nkpor.''They tied the security man's handss at his back,cut the iron door with a machine before gaining entrance.Their target was to open the vault and cart away money,but they could not cut the fourth barrier after cutting their others.Although,their operation lasted till about 5.00 am,they only made away with a laptop.''.                       On monday 3rd July 2017,in the evening a group of suspected Boko Haram terrorists mercenaries of Mamman Nur extraction paid dearly with their lives when they dared to attack 81 Division Task Force Battalion's location at Gulumba Gana in Bama LGA,Borno State.The troops successfully dealt with the terrorists and pursued those that escaped and recovered 2 AK-47 Rifles and 2 magazines of 9 round of ammunition,2 AGL bombs and 1 damaged mobile phone handset.Similarly troops of 3 Battalion located at Logomani,Dikwa LGA,Borno State,neutralized 3 Boko Haram,captured one alive and recovered 3 AK-47 rifles from Mamman Nur faction that dared to attack their location yesterday at about 7.00pm.However,we lost a soldier during the pursuit.               A 22-years-old lady (name withheld) and a graduate of the University of Lagos, UniLag, yesterday, before an Ikeja high court, gave account of how she was lured, raped and defrauded by two brothers, Bright Nwachukwu and Chijindu Nwachukwu, earlier in the year. The defendants, are both standing trial before Justice Josephine Oyefeso on a two-count charge of rape and obtaining money by false pretense, brought against them by the Lagos State Government. The victim, a graduate of the Department of Biology Education from the University of Lagos, who was led in evidence before the court by the prosecutor, Mrs C. K. Tunji-Carrena, said she met the first defendant at Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos State, on her way to school on February 12.
