 Noise pollution: Lagos seals five churches, 19 hotels The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has temporarily shut down no fewer than five churches and 19 hotels over noise pollution between March 23 and April 26  Calculations by our correspondent also showed that no fewer than four markets and shopping complexes were also shut down over noise pollution and other environmental infractions. The churches that have been temporarily sealed include St Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lord’s Catholic Church, Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, and an unnamed Catholic Church Some of the hotels affected are School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel and Suites, Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Monero Hotel and Suites, and Lekki Hotel and Suites. NIGERIAN ARMY,INTERCEPTS 92 ARMED HERDSMEN AT CHECK-POINTS IN ABUJA.{PHOTOS}.

                   The Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army yesterday paraded 36 armed herdsmen who were intercepted by troops of the 117 Guards Battalion Keffi along the Abuja-Keffi road on Sunday.Another group of 56 herdsmen were arrested at the Dantata check point between Kuje and the Abuja airport.The 36 heredsmen were arrested by troops at the Keffi check point at about 4:30 pm Sunday uin a Diana Truck and a Toyota Camry Salon Car,the spokesman  of the brigade,Captain Bashir Jajira,told newsmen yesterday.He said during interrogation by troops at the check point,they said they were going to Nasarawa LGA of Nasarawa State.Jajira said after a thorough check of the vehicles,the troops discovered one pump action gun,19 cartridges of dane guns,118 cartridges of ammo,28 cutlasses,three jack knives,14 sticks,seven torches,assorted charms and hard drugs.He also said the other group of 56 herdsmen were arrested at the Dantata check point between Kuje and the airport in the Gwagwalada area of

ABOUT 50 SHOPS GOT BURNT TO THE GROUND TODAY,AT LADIPO SPARE PARTS MARKET.

                 Today wednesday,about 50 shops were destroyed by fire at Ladipo Auto Spares Market,Mushin Lagos.NAN reports that goods,particularly assorted vehicles spare parts,were burnt at the Osoro secttion of the market.Mr Nkire Ezeigbo,Public Relations Officer,Ladipo Auto Dealers Association,told NAN that the fire started at about 3.30 am from the Osoro/Akinwumi area of the market.Mr Felix Okoro,Chairman of the Osoro section of the market,said no casualty was recorded but goods worth millions of naira were consumed by the inferno.The Director,Lagos State Fire Service,Mr Rasak Fadipe,said his men had responded promptly,adding that the fire was completely put out at 10:00 am.NAN reports that the fire has temporarily slowed down business activities in the affected section of the market.One more photo below.                                                                                    

A JUDGE CAUTIONED A LAWYER TODAY IN ABUJA COURT ,FOR IMPROPER DRESSING.

                 According to sources,today wednesday,Justice Peter Lifu of the National Industrial Court Abuja cautioned a lawyer who appeared in court dressed improperly.The lawyer,Mr Bala Ali,a legal officer with the Management Board,University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital,appeared in court not properly robed and casually dressed.He wore only a pair of trousers and a shirt without a tie and without tucking in his shirt.The judge noticed the improper dressing in court when he announced his appearance as legal officer,representing the hospital and also as a witness in an existing suit in court.One Malam Mahmood Sambo,Assistant Director and Head of Finance Department of the hospital,alleging wrongful dismissal over alleged petitions of fraud.Ali,being the hospital's legal officer,had appeared in court to represent the hospital as a defence witness in the suit.The legal officer,while being cautioned by the judge,argued that as a defence witness for the hospital,he did not see it f

DSS ARRAIGNS 2 MEN TODAY,FOR CLONING GOVERNOR AMBODE'S PHONE NUMBER,IN OTHER TO DUPE PEOPLE.{PHOTOS}.

                    The Department of State Security {DSS} on wednesday arraigned two artisans before an Isolo Magistrate Court for allegedli cloning the mobile line of Lagis State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode in order to perpetuate a N50 million fraud.The suspects,Rilwanu Jamiu and Balogun Stanley Oyewole,who vlaimed to be cocoa dealers were said to have attempted to initiate a N50 million transfer with the said mobile line.Prosecuting counsel from the DSS,Mr Peter Okerinmodun told Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo that the suspects were arrested after using the cloned mobile line of the Governor to send a text message to the Accountant General of the State requesting for transfer of N50 million on February 10,2016.The two suspects,who conspired with others now at large,pleaded not guilty to the charges,while the prosecutor requested that they should be kept in protective custody pending the outcome of the legal advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecution {DPP} in view of the fact t
