 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. FIVE INTERNET FRAUDSTERS BAG JAIL TERMS,ANOTHER ARRAIGNED IN OSOGBO.{PHOTOS}.

       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office, have secured the conviction of five internet fraudsters in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. Four of the convicts, Oyeyinka Damilare Malik, Abdullahi Olanrewaju Owopade, Temitope Dare Osanyintoba and Adedayo Oluwagbenro Ogunkoya, were convicted and sentenced on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 by Justices Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel and Peter Lifu of t he Federal High Court, Osogbo, Osun State, while the fifth, Afeez Dayo was convicted by Justice Lifu, today, Wednesday, June 17, 2020, after pleading guilty to an amended one-count charge of fraudulent impersonation, contrary to Section 22(2)(b)(iv) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 22(3) of the same Act.More photos below.

EFFC ARRESTS 16 SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN OGUN,LAGOS.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     In yet another raid aimed at stamping out cybercrime in the country, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, have arrested suspected internet fraudsters, otherwise known as “yahoo yahoo boys” in Ota, Ogun State, and Victoria Island, Lagos. The suspected internet fraudsters arrested during the raid in Ota, Ogun State are Adeshina Michael; Ayeni Emiloju; Odenigbo Anthon y, Afolabi Gbenga and Oyibogbola David Seun. Those arrested in Victoria Island, Lagos are Onothebor Edmond; Suuru Blessing; Ifedapo Opeyemi; Samson Samuel, Oguntade Idowu, and Emmanuel Akinyemi. Others are: Seyi Kazee; Sulaiman Toheed; Oduwale Oluwasesan, Adewoye Oluwasesan and Alex Abiodun. Their arrest followed intelligence received about their alleged involvement in internet fraud. The Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LSWRC), has cautioned operators in the borehole drilling industry against operating without the requisite licence or permit from the State Government, just as it sealed a construction site on Cameron Road, in Ikoyi for violating the Environmental Protection and Management Law 2017. The Executive Secretary, LSWRC, Mrs. Funke Adepoju, gave the warning on the heels of the commencement of a monitoring and enforcement exercise by the Commission to some construction sites in Ikoyi, where boreholes are being drilled without a licence, permit and total disregard for safety measures. Speaking at the second virtual meeting of the Inter-Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) held earlier today, Prof. Yakubu reminded the parties that they must conclude their primaries for the nomination of candidates within the next 10 days.        The current Administration of the Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR has recommenced the construction project on Kuto Bridge and the surrounding road. It would be recalled that the road project was left uncompleted by the immediate past administration, under the most controversial circumstances. Governor Abiodun disclosed that the State  Government was only able to continue the project starting with asphalt laying, following series of deliberations with the contractors who had sought variation and additional payment. The re-evaluation and rescoping, according to the Governor, yielded an agreement to complete the uncompleted project. EFCC ARREST BANKER FOR ALLEGED N18 MILLION FRAUD.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested a staff of First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Philips Orumade, for allegedly stealing the sum of Eighteen Million, Nine Hundred Thousand naira ( N18,900,000) from the bank. Orumade, who was said to be in charge of ATM gallery keys at Aduwawa branch of the bank , on November 3 , 2019 allegedly disappeared with the said amount and efforts to t race him proved abortive. According to the bank, the suspect was captured by the CCTV footage, walking into the ATM gallery, before using a nylon bag to cover the CCTV. The suspect has been on the run and was recently apprehended in Lagos. He has made useful statements and will soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.

The bag contained her two Samsung mobile phones, an international passport, United States Dollars, Nigerian and Mauritian currencies. . . Oburuku committed the crime on June 11, 2019 at an event organised by the EFCC to mark the year’s National Democracy Day and Anti-Corruption Summit at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, which had in attendance, President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian security chiefs, respected citizens and global leaders.

  According to sources,  the veteran radio host died around 1pm on Wednesday. “He died today around 1pm. His wife is currently at the isolation centre in Yaba as we speak,” said the source. While the cause of his death is yet to be confirmed — as of the time this report was filed — immediate suspicion is that he died of COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus.
