 Anambra State Govt. Rescues 13 Children From Traffickers, Arrests Suspects By OCHA Brigade Media  13 children have been rescued from suspected child traffickers in Otolo Nnewi by a joint taskforce of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade and Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs. The joint taskforce also confiscated fake documents that aided the trafficking.  The children were found malnourished and have been denied education.  Report say that the trafficker adopts and sold children to people from different parts of the country.  Lagos Drain Ducks worker trapped in underground drainage A Lagos State Drain Ducks worker has reportedly been trapped in an underground drainage in Onipanu area of the state with effort being made to rescue him. Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said following an SOS message on distress situation of a drainage worker, the agency activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans from its Onipanu base. “Upon arrival of the emergency responders at the incident scene, investigations revealed that an adult male de-silting drainages along that axis in attempts to clear a blocked portion, accessed the underground tunnel and got trapped. “Further investigation at the incident scene revealed that the man was a Drain Ducks worker employed by LAMATA, while trying to dislodge and evacuate debris from the underground drainage and unfortunately got trapped in between the tunnel,” he said.  Tension in Delta community as cleric kills sacred snake A cleric has reportedly killed a sacred boa in Okeagbe community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. The cleric who is a member of God’s Grace Ministry, whose headquarters is in Warri, immediately fled the community before he was caught. It was not clear why the cleric killed the boa at the time of this report. Consequently, there was serious protests by indigenes of the Okeagbe community over the killing of the boa by the cleric. Indigenes in their numbers chanted solidarity songs as they marched round the community. They marched to the police station and an army formation in the community to register their grievances over what they termed as “sacrilege.” The angry protesters did not allow the church to hold service on Monday as they insisted that the church and the cleric must perform the necessary rituals to cleanse the town as well as bury the snake like a human being. NAIRA DOWN TO N1,410/$ IN PARALLEL MARKET.(PHOTO).

 Naira down to N1,410/$ in parallel market The Naira yesterday depreciated to N1,410 per dollar in the parallel market, from N1,395 per dollar last weekend. However, the Naira appreciated in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, NAFEM, to N1,354.21 per dollar. Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for NAFEM rose to N1,354.21per dollar from N1,400.4 per dollar last week Friday, indicating N46.19 appreciation for the naira. The market recorded an intraday high of N1,441 per dollar and an intraday low of N1,285 per dollar resulting in a margin of N156 per dollar. The volume of dollars traded (turnover) in the market declined by 58 percent to $84.83 million from $201.88 million traded the previous day. Consequently, the margin between the parallel market and NAFEM rates widened to N55.79 per dollar from N5.4 per dollar last Friday.
