 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.  Nigerian pastors initiated my cancel culture for speaking against tithe – Daddy Freeze Controversial media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has recounted his ordeal for speaking against tithe. He said he became scared for his life because of the uproar that greeted his stance on tithe. He said he became poor due to the backlash, but it wasn’t “spiritual”, emphasizing that he is still being blacklisted in the media and entertainment industry. He opened up in a recent podcast interview with actress Iyabo Ojo. Daddy Freeze said, “When I started going against tithe, there’s no Nigerian pastor that didn’t respond. Kogi REC: We’re 90% ready for guber poll — over 900 backup BVAS machines available     The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is 90 percent ready for the November 11 governorship election in Kogi state. Speaking with NAN, Gabriel Longpet, the INEC resident electoral commissioner (REC), said the bimodal voters accreditation system (BVAS ) machines have been deployed to the 21 LGAs in the state in preparation for the election. He added that the commission would ensure that all the 3,508 polling units get election materials on time. “I can say we are 90 percent prepared. If not for the fact that we are waiting for the sensitive materials such as the ballot papers and the result sheets, I would have told you we are 99.9 percent prepared,” he said. The REC said the commission has recruited over 15,000 ad hoc staff to help it in the “smooth” conduct of the polls. Reps seat: Appeal Court sacks LP’s Nwodo The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, on Monday, nullified the election of Stainless Nwodo, a member representing Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani federal constituency of Enugu State in the House of Representatives. The appellate court declared that Rt. Hon. Martins Oke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won the February election. The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Enugu had, on September 8, upheld the election of the LP candidate. The candidate of the PDP, Oke, and his All Progressives Congress, APC, counterpart, Samuel Ekwueme, had challenged Nwodo’s victory at the tribunal. The duo asked the tribunal to sack the LP candidate over alleged certificate forgery and irregularities during the election. But the court struck out their petitions. Appeal Court upholds Orji Kalu’s election The Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, has reaffirmed the victory of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), representing the Abia-North senatorial district. In a unanimous ruling on Monday, November 6, the Appeal Court upheld the judgment of the National Assembly Petitions Tribunal, Umuahia which earlier dismissed the petition of Peoples Democratic Party’s Mao Ohuabunwa and Labour Party’s Nnamdi Iro Orji for lacking merit. The court while upholding the victory of Kalu, according to a statement by his media office in Abuja, said that the election of the former Abia Governor complied with the provisions of the Electoral Act. The Appeal Court Justices also faulted the arguments of both petitioners that the election was not held in over 120 polling units mainly in Ohafia and Arochukwu Local Government Areas of the zone. A post on the actor's Nollywood page on Monday stated that the actor underwent seven successful surgeries, but one of his legs had to be amputated to keep him alive and aid his recovery process.  Soludo’s father dies at 92 Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has lost his father, Pa Simeon Nwankwo Soludo. Pa Soludo reportedly died in the early hours of Monday, 6th November, 2023. A short statement by the Press Secretary of the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime, announced Pa Soludo’s passing. The statement said: “Pa Soludo is survived by seven sons, eight daughters-in-law, twenty-two grand-children and six great-grand children. “Governor Soludo noted that his late father lived a fulfilled life and died at the ripe age of ninety-two years (92) “Further information will be communicated to the public in due course.”

Nigeria’s Yemisi Akintoye Selected For CAF Women's Champions League Nigerian Elite Referee and FIFA badge, Yemisi Akintoye has been selected for the 2023 African Women's Champions League taking place in Cote d’Ivoire from 5th November to 19th November, 2023. The UNILAG Graduate arbiter was one of the 17 Referees shortlisted across Africa and one of the 12 selected after an intensive one-week pre-tournament course. Miss Akintoye shall be officiating at the tournament alongside Salma Musaganda of Rwanda who was the first African woman Referee to officiate at the men's World Cup.  22 FEARED KILLED IN BENUE GANG FIGHT 6th November, 2023    At least 22 people are feared killed in separate attacks following disagreement between two rival gangs in Chito community, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. Residents alleged that while 15 were killed in the Chito gang supremacy fight, the remaining seven were gunned down at a drinking joint in Tyo Akosu settlement of the same Ukum LGA. The gangsters have been allegedly responsible for the unrest in Ukum and two other local government areas – Logo and Katsina-Ala, making up the Sankera axis of the state. Villagers said a fight broke out between the two rival gangs popularly known as Chain and Full Fire at the weekend, leading to the killing of the 15 people whose bodies were seen in an amateur video and photos circulated on social media. A local from the area told our correspondent on the telephone that the victims were part of another banditry group terrorising the Sankera axis but were gunned down by a rival gang.
