 PRESS RELEASE IGP CONDEMNS MOB ACTION IN EDO STATE, ORDERS IMMEDIATE FCID TAKEOVER OF INVESTIGATION The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has strongly condemned the violent mob action carried out against a group of travelers by a local vigilante group along the Uromi-Obajana Road in Edo State. The group of individuals, who were traveling in a truck and claimed to be hunters, were found in possession of nineteen (19) locally fabricated firearms when intercepted by the vigilantes, who were not satisfied with the excuse of being hunters to be in possession of such number of arms, concluded they were kidnappers. Regrettably, without allowing for due process or proper investigation into their claims, the vigilante group subjected some of them to unlawful mob justice, resulting in tragic consequences. PRESS RELEASE IGP INVALIDATES EXISTING POLICE COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE (PCRC) IDENTITY CARD …Approves redesign of new  IDs, Membership Screening The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, has invalidated the existing Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Identity Card with effect from December 2022. This is in line with the IGP’s zeal to sanitize and standardize all sectors including the Police Community Relations Committee. The IGP has also ordered the redesign and re-issuance of new PCRC ID cards from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, and through judicious screening of membership across board. The Inspector-General of Police hereby directs all eligible members of PCRC nationwide to contact the offices of the various Zonal, Command and Formations PCRC Chairmen as well as the Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) of their Zones, Commands and Formations respectively to obtain new forms for processing the newly approved ID Card.
