  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.       The Ogun State Government has disclosed that the status of the Alumni Association of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta is intact in spite of its relocation to Ipokia in Ipokia Local Government Area of the State. The Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota who made this known while playing host to the Executive members of the Association at her office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the change in st atus of the polytechnic to a University of Science and Technology would not have any effect on the activities of the Alumni Association.Mujota stated this against the backdrop of the transition of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology and the relocation of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic formerly in Ojere, Abeokuta to Ipokia.She however said moving the polytechnic to Ipokia would not rob off the Association’s dignity and fame, saying that the new development was borne out of the believe that there should

         This is a 30 feet tall installation of an indigenous life size wooden canoe made in fibre glass to depict Lagos Water Ways, life style, the culture and coastline traditions. Lagos is an open canvas for creative mind and the canoes will always be there in our hearts to keep bringing in creativity. The design of this art work is premised on the use of canoe to represent each local government within Lagos State. The Lagos Communities are made up of 57 canoes, depicting the 20 Local Government Areas and the 37 Local Council Development Areas with their maps carefully designed on individual canoes. The beauty of Lagos is in her hospitality and acceptability of people from other culture and background, hence, the intentional clustered arrangement of the canoes. The upright positioning of the canoes is inspired by the skyline of Lagos as a city and a successful metropolis. BLIND,DEAF,DUMB PERSONS PROTEST IN ANAMBRA OVER VOTING RIGHTS.{PHOTO}.

        Persons with disabilities have staged a protest in Awka, the Anambra State capital, over their voting rights. The group said its members were being marginalised in election issues. It demanded equal voting access in the November 18, 2017 poll in the state and in other elections. The Executive Director of Centre for Citizen with Disabilities, Mr. David Anyaele, led the protest. Anyaele said persons with disabilities were more than 600,000 in Anambra State and over 25 million in Nigeria. He said, “The number of people with disabilities in Nigeria towered above the number of citizens in countries like Croatia, Belgium Denmark, and New Zealand put together.” He said the group would take their protest to the Independent National Electoral Commission and ask to be provided with items as braille ballots, assistive devices, especially for the visually impaired amongst them.        Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Federal Government to conduct credible governorship poll in the state next year, expressing optimism that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will emerge victorious. This is just as he also warned the Federal Government against the use of force or manipulating devices and plans  in the the election, adding that democracy needs a virile opposition to thrive. He stated this in Ado-Ekiti on Friday while reacting to the announcement by INEC that the governorship election in the state has been fixed for July 14, 2018.
