 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. AFDB Provides Over $4bn Funding For Nigeria Africa Development Bank (AFDB), says it has made provision for a $4.4 billion dollers funding portfolio for Nigeria to take care of the nation’s developmental challenges. The Director Country Department of the AFDB, Mr. Lamin Barow, stated this in Abuja at the opening of a Joint Country Portfolio Performance Review meeting, organised by the Bank in collaboration with the International Economic Relations Department of the Ministry of Finance. FG Launches CNG Buses Initiative Federal Government has flagged off the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), with the unveiling seven conversion centres across Nigeria. The flag-off of the initiative was done by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajibiamila. In a symbolic handover of the CNG buses to the State House, the Chairman of the Presidential CNG Initiative Steering Committee, Zacch Adedeji announced that the government has waived the Value Added Tax on the CNG buses purchase as well as seeking duty waivers for value-chain. The goal is to build a sustainable future, leveraging Nigeria’s available cheap and clean energy source, which is gas, Adedeji stated. Tribunal Upholds Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's Election  The Adamawa state Governorship election tribunal has dismissed the case of Sen Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani of the All Progressive congress (APC) challenging the victory and declaration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the People's Democratic party (PDP) as winner in the Governorship election of Adamawa state.  The tribunal has affirmed the victory of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the February 2023 general election.  The tribunal presided over by the leading judge, justice Theodora Oloho, justice Mustapha Ramat and justice Umar Abdulnasir, said, the petitioner had failed to establish their allegations of non compliance with the electoral act and prove their case with cogent, credible and satisfactory evidences.  Benin Court Jails 13 Internet Fraudsters Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of the State High Court, Benin- City, Edo State, on October 24  & 25, 2023 convicted and sentenced 13 (thirteen) internet fraudsters  to different jail terms. The convicts are: Eboh Chukwuma, Onyeukwu Emmanuel Onyeka, Ebuka Osita Odukwe, Omozuafo Collins, Elect Osayuwu, Omorogbe Christian, Odiete Timothy, Odede Enitome Patrick and  Benjamin Kennedy Ese. Others are: Ayodele Eugene, Eric Onwusiwekwu, Bolum Ogechukwu, and Courage Sule. They were jailed after pleading guilty to one- count separate charge  bordering on possession of proceeds of crime  and  unlawful possession of fraudulent documents, upon their arraignment by the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The charge against  Ebuka Osita Odukwe reads : "that you  Ebuka Osita Odukwe  sometimes between 2022 and 2023 within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did take possession of the aggregate sum of N8,908,831.00

 GOV SOLUDO EMPOWERS 5000 ANAMBRA YOUTHS WITH N2B START-UP CAPITAL By Paul Nwosu Anambra State Government today empowered 5000 new smart entrepreneurs, courtesy of the 1 Youth 2 Skills Entrepreneurship Scheme. The 1 Youth 2 Skills Entrepreneurship Programme is expected to train and empower 10,000 youths in the next phase. Governor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, during the empowerment ceremony which held at the International Convention Centre, Awka revealed that Anambra State will be turned into the biggest digital skills hub in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa where a greater percentage of Anambra youths will have employable and exportable technological skills. Governor Soludo emphasized that the agenda is to raise smart entrepreneurs who possess two skills and people that will build businesses that will create jobs. LAGOS GOVT REOPENS ALABA INTERNATIONAL, TRADE FAIR MARKETS …says closure not politically motivated The Lagos State Government has reopened Alaba International Market and some markets in the Trade Fair Complex, all located in Ojo, Lagos, after days of closure for improper waste disposal and other environmental infractions.  Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, said the markets were reopened after addressing most of the environmental issues, adding however, that the closure was not politically motivated, but rather a step towards ensuring a clean and healthy environment around the business facilities. He said, “The decision to reopen the markets follows a rigorous assessment and implementation of stringent environmental standards.
