  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. BANDITS RELEASED 30 KIDNAP VICTIMS YESTERDAY IN KASTINA STATE.{PHOTOS}.

    The governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari on Saturday received another batch of 30 persons, who were released by suspected bandits. He was told that eight of the victims were from Kankara Local Government Area of the state while 18 were from Shimfida in Jibiya LGA. The LGs of the remaining four victims were not disclosed. One of the repentant bandits who brought the victims to Government House, Katsina explained that the victims were hitherto held at Damsadau forest in Zamfara State. He said their abductor was from Zurmi in the neighbouring Zamfara State and was picking his victims from Katsina state. Addressing the freed victims, Mr Masari assured them that government would continue to persuade the suspected bandits to release more of the kidnapped victims until there was none in their custody. The governor directed that the victims be taken to hospitals for medical check-up before they are reunited with their families.More photos below.

  FORMER BUHARI MINISTER DECAMPS TO PDP By Magaji Isa Hunkuyi, Jalingo September 15, 2019          A former Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Jummai Alhassan has decamped to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from United Democratic Party (UDP). Th e former minister contested this year’s Taraba State governorship election under the UDP. She announced the decision during a stakeholders meeting of the UDP in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital. During the meeting, a report of an opinion poll conducted by the party shortly after 2019 general election was presented and members from 168 wards in 16 local government areas of the state agreed to decamp to PDP. She said based on the outcome of the opinion polls she has no option but to go by the decision of the majority members of the UDP.

DWARF BEATEN MERCILESSLY OVER MISSING PENIS TODAY IN ENUGU.{PHOTOS}.

    Jungle justice was meted out to a dwarf identified as Anayo by a mob which gathered after a man raised an alarm over his missing penis at Obiagu axis of Ogui community in Enugu state. Anayo was rescued by the police after being beaten mercilessly by the mob on Saturday September 14, following an allegation of causing the disappearance of the manhood of a man he shook hands with. The Enugu state police spokesperson, Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed the incident said the victim of the penis theft gave his name as Sunday Ebubechukwu. EFCC ARRESTS 11 SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN SAPELE,DELTA STATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     It was end of the road for 11 suspected internet fraudsters as they were arrested at their hideout in an early morning raid in Sapele, Delta State on Saturday 14, 2019 by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office. The surprise raid in the wee hours of the day which was based on intelligence took the suspects by surprise and later led to a mild protest by their sy mpathizes several hours after the EFCC team had left the city. The suspects arrested are Omomua Victor, Demi Johnson, Agufure Godstime, Agboroko Precious, Anthony Omonomo, Onskharoma Julius and Freeborn Efe. Others are Akama Precious, Tagbajiemi Promise George Raphael and Stanley Agabiri Items recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include a lap top computer, a Mercedes-Benz car, computers, mobile Phones, flash drives and internet modems. The suspects have made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon investigations are completed.More photos

     Justice J.K Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Friday 13 September, 2019 ordered a former governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha and his family not to sell or alienate any of the properties that were subject of an interim order of the court pending the conclusion of investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The  Court directed the Applicants to, on or before Tuesday, September 17, 2019 deposed to an affidavit of undertaking and adjourned to September 27, 2019 for report. The judge gave the Consequential Order while vacating the July 25, 2019 Interim Order, forfeiting five properties owned by Okorocha and his family to the Federal Government.      A 40-year-old mother of eight, Glory Madukwe was slapped to death by her husband at their Egando residence for refusing to breastfeed their crying one-month-old baby. The deceased who complained of tiredness, slumped and died after her enraged 40-year-old commercial motorcyclist (Okada rider) husband, Kingsley Madukwe slapped her as she tried leaving the bedroom for the living room. The Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident and he said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday September 11.
