2023 Ballon d’Or: Victor Osimhen Ranked 8th Best Player Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen was ranked number 8 in the 2023 Ballon d’Or award which was held in Paris, France on Monday night.  He thus becomes the first Nigerian to make the top ten of the Ballon d’Or. The Napoli forward became one of the few Nigerians to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or and went a step further by making the top ten. Osimhen was in impressive form for the Italian side as they clinched the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years. He won the Pichichi  – the highest goalscorer prize –  last season as the Naples team emerged winners of the league. The 24-year-old scored 26 goals to become the first African to win the prize. Osimhen was the highest-ranked player from the continent at this year’s award. The closest is Liverpool and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah who was ranked eleventh.

INEC Publishes Number Of Collected PVCs Ahead Bayelsa, Imo, And Kogi Polls The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday published the comprehensive information of collected and uncollected Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) on polling unit basis in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states. 2 People Suffocate In Kano Diesel Tank The Kano state fire service has confirmed the death of two people, who suffocated while washing a diesel reservoir tank, at Katsina road by Baban Gwari roundabout,Fagge local government area. The Public Relations officer,Kano state fire service , Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi,made the disclosure to newsmen in Kano. Benue Varsity Suspends Medical Students For Alleged Indiscipline The Management of Benue State University in Makurdi has imposed a one-month suspension on all medical students from 200 to 600 levels. This was made known in a memo shared by the Benue State University in Makurdi on Monday, TVC reports. The suspension comes in the wake of a peaceful protest organised by medical students, during which they raised concerns about the arbitrary withdrawal of their peers, water shortages, and overcrowded living conditions, with up to five students in a room designed for two. Abia Assembly shut down as parliamentary workers begin indefinite strike Abia State House of Assembly complex, was Monday shut down as parliamentary workers commenced indefinite strike over non implication of financial autonomy.
