The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. LASG BEGINS TRANSFORMATION OF OLUSOSUN DUMPSITE INTO A RECREATION PARK.

       The Lagos State Government has commenced the process of transforming Olusosun dumpsite to fit into the projected plan of converting it into a recreation park. The Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Babatunde Durosinm-Etti revealed this during a tour of the dumpsite with the media on Tuesday. He said that the Olusosun dump site presently being covered with laterite signalled the alteration of the use of the site as well as the beginning of its eventual conversion into a recreation park with green areas. Assuring Lagosians of government’s concern for their wellbeing and wellness, the Commissioner said that this move was to arrest the emission of smoke and guarantee health and safety of residents. “Since the commencement of this transformational effort last week, we have been massively capping the refuse dump with laterite to douse the fire and stop the emission of smoke. NIGERIAN AIR FORCE ALPHA JET AIRCRAFT NEUTRALIZES SCORES OF BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS DURING CLOSE AIR SUPPORT.

     A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft yesterday, 7 May 2018, neutralized scores of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) while providing Close Air Support (CAS) to ground troops. The successful air strike by the NAF Alpha Jet aircraft followed calls from the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army (NA) that troops conducting clearance operations a t Koleram had come in contact with BHTs. The GOC therefore requested for support from the NAF, sequel to which the Alpha Jet aircraft was immediately scrambled to provide CAS. On arrival over the location, there were exchanges of fire between BHTs and our ground forces. The crew of a NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft established contact with the ground troops and guided the Alpha Jet aircraft crew to the major source of fire from the BHTs, which was seen coming from a particular settlement.         The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , EFCC on Monday, May 7 2018, arraigned Mr. Chinedu Mathew Nwobi before Justice Dugbor-Oghoghorie of the Federal High Court, Enugu, on a two- count charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of N1,900, 000.00 ( One Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira) only, contrary to section 8 (a),and 1(1)(c)and punishable under section 1(3)of the Advance Fee F raud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act,2006.         The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, May 7, 2018 arraigned one Samson Otuedon before Justice P. H. Mallong of the Federal High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on one count charge of currency counterfeiting.   Otuedon was arrested by the EFCC on April 7, 2018 following an intelligence report on the activities of a syndicate of fraudsters duping unsuspecting victims in the Masaka, Karu Local Government Ar ea of the State. Upon arrest, over $400,000 (Four Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) was recovered. The count reads:  “That you, Samson Otuedon, on or about the 7th day of April, 2018 at Riverside Masaka, Nasarawa State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court had in your possession 4,921 pieces of US $100 denominated bills totaling $492.100 (Four Hundred and Ninety Two Thousand, One Hundred United States Dollars) knowing them to be counterfeits and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 5(1)(b) and punishable under S

        Police in Kasangati has arrested three suspects for allegedly murdering a business woman with intent to take control over her three plots. The 32 years old Luwum Street businesswoman Ms Elizabeth Nakato alias Mulongo died of fatal injuries on her head on Friday 6th April 2018 and was dumped at Kakelenge, Mattuga, Kasangati Subcounty in Wakiso District. Police have in custody Nakato’s brother Pius Mugambwa 26, Sunday Nsubuga 32 a cab driver and Kasim Mpalanyi alias engineer aged 37. For a long time Mugambwa had been a great confidant to his sister that they always shared every good thing in life together.        President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of a new Battalion of the Nigerian Army, as well as a new Police Area Command, in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as part of measures to scale up the security response to the banditry affecting the area.        President Muhammed Buhari will on Tuesday undertake a four-day trip to the United Kingdom. In the course of the technical stop-over for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, the President had a meeting with his doctor. The Doctor requested the President to return for a meeting which he agreed to do. President Buhari will return on Saturday, May 12th.
