 Govt extends search for fleeing 4,000 inmates to IDP camps …to comb villages, towns, environs of fugitive prisoners  The Nigeria Correctional Service has stepped up efforts to track down and recapture escaped inmates of the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre, Niger State, Saturday PUNCH has learnt. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday, said the government would relocate a lot of correctional centres to create better infrastructure and security. Tunji-Ojo made the pledge when he visited the Niger custodial centre, where 119 inmates had escaped following a rainstorm that damaged the facility on Wednesday. This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Ozoya Imohimi. The minister said it was imperative to relocate a lot of the correctional centres to a conducive environment. “This facility was built in 1914 to house 250 inmates. THE QUEEN VISITED THE ROYAL INSTITUTION OF CHARTERED SURVEYORS TO MARK THEIR 150TH ANNIVERSARY TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

      As Patron of the organisation, Her Majesty met staff at the headquarters and visited the, ‘Shaping the World, Building the Future’ exhibition.   The exhibit includeed a Lego model of the institution’s headquarters, made from 13,000 bricks and which took 150 hours to assemble!. Her Majesty met the great-grandson of the RICS Founder and 1st President, John Clutton (pictu re 2) and representatives of organisation’s charitable work, trainees, students and diversity champions of the RICS.The Queen concluded the visit by locking a letter box shaped time capsule that will be reopened in 50 years’ time and signing the visitors’ book.More photos below.

     According to a facebook user Ken Chukwudi,who post all this photos today with the caption '' The fire which started in the early hours of this morning, gutted a part of the sc hool admission office (Exams and Record building) and may spreading to the Mass Communication complex including other adjoining office space and building. The cause of the inferno could not be ascertained, as it disrupted the night class of students who are preparing for their exams through Paper and Pen Test, some students struggled to put the fire out with little success as it raged fiercely destroying vehicles parked close-by. Side talks from students, attributes the fire to be the hand work of aggrieved students, for the change of exam mode from Computer Based Test to Paper and Pen test, which they noted will increase sorting and sexual harassment by the lecturers for mark, as the CBT mode put such instances to a level of check. Fire Service are yet to arrive as at the time of writing

       Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom says he has forgiven those who plotted to illegally impeach him as Governor.       A Federal High Court in Osun has remanded an Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Lecturer , Prof. Richard Akindele, in Ilesa prison custody,for   allegedly demanding sex for mark   from his student. Justice Maureen Onyetenu ordered the remand on Monday pending the filing of his formal bail application. Mr Kehinde Adedoye, the Independent Corrupt Practise and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Prosecutor, had told the court that the defendant had on Sept. 16, 2017 unlawfull y demanded sexual benefits for  marks from Monica Osagie. According to the prosecutor, the defendant is facing a four-count charge. “The defendant corruptly asked for sexual benefits from Ms Monica Osagie on account of favour to be afterwards shown to her in the discharge of his official duties as a lecturer, to wit: altering her academic grades from fail to pass in the course, MBA 632 – Research Method,” he said.
