EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

                      Pacelli school for the Blind,Surulere has emerged winner in the maidenedition of a two day quiz competition organized by Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs {LASODA} between pupils of regular and special schools in Lagos State.The event,themed ''towards an inclusive education in Lagos State'' and held in Adeyemi Bero Auditorium,had eight primary schools participating at the preliminary stage but only four of the schools made it to the final stage of the kneely contested competition.Speaking at the event,Permanent Secretary,Ministry of Youth and Social Development,Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola said the gesture was in line with Lagos State Government's promise to reposition the socio-political and economic fortunes of people living with disabilities in the state.The programme,he added was also ''designed to create windows of opportunities to exhibit their inherent qualities and contribute to the economic growth of Lagos state''.Ac

MORE CATTLE RUSTLERS WERE CLEARED BY THE NIGERIAN ARMY IN DANSADAU DISTRICT,YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}.

                                                 Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army involved in Operation SHARAN DAJI,the outfit to clear cattle rustlers,armed bandits and kidnappers in the north west geo-political region in the country,yesterday cleared armed bandits in Gobirawan Kwacha,Dansadau District of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.During the encounter in the forest,the troops were able to kill 3 armed bandits and recovered 1 AK-47 rifle,1 AK-47 magazine and 11 rounds of 7.62mm {Special} ammunition.Unfortunately,the bandits shot and damaged the troops vehicle.However,none of the soldiers was injured.-Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,Acting Director Army Public Relations.One more photo below.                                                                                                                                               

A MAN,WAS ARRAIGNED TODAY BY THE EFCC FOR ISSUING DUD CHEQUE & STEALING.{PHOTO}.

                 The EFCC today thursday,June 30,2016,arraigned Lukman Tijani and a company named Al-Mosrur Ventures before Justice Kudirat Jose of Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja on a 2 count charge bordering on issuance of dud cheque and stealing.The defendants were charged to court for allegedly issuing a Guarntee Trust Bank Cheque which was dishonoured and also converting to their own personal use monies they stole which is the property of Seyid Alliy Nigeria Limited to the tune of N3 million.When the charges were read to the accused,he pleaded not guilty to the two counts.

NIGERIAN TROOPS,AMBUSHED BOKO HARAM MEMBERS WHO WERE CONVEYING LOGISTICS AT GUDUMBALI.{PHOTOS}

                  Today thursday morning,the troops of 118 Task Force Battalion,8 Task Force Division,on blocking position at Garere junction,ambushed Boko Haram terrorists at Gudumbali,northern part of Borno state,while they were crossing another location with some logistics items.During the operation,the troops killed 2 and wounded one of the Boko Haram terrorists.They also recovered 2 AK-47 and a G3 rifle.In addition,they recovered 660 litres of Premium Motor Spirit and yards of military uniformsThe troops also recovered a truck earlier stolen by the terrorists in Kangarwa.-Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,Acting Director Army Public Relations.One more photo below.

                        Miss Rwanda 2016 Jolly Mutesi will be the first beauty queen to represent the country at the international beauty pageant.The 19 year old beauty queen was crowned Miss Rwanda 2016 on February 27.She will participate in the 66th edition of Miss World scheduled for December 2016,in the United States.Dieudonne Kagame,the CEO of Rwanda Inspiration Back Up Ltd,a local company that organised Miss Rwanda beauty pageant said  to the press that ''This an excellent platform to further improve the country's image outside the country because most people out there have absolutely no idea about the progress Rwanda has made in the recent years''.More photos below.                

A SCHOOL TEACHER IN KANO WAS SENTENCED TO 7 YEARS IN PRISON,FOR VISA SCAM.{PHOTO}.

                                          The EFCC secured a conviction of one Idris Buhari of Durimin iya quarters Kano,arraigned before Justice J.K Omotosho of Federal High Court 3 Kano on one count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence.Idris was arrested by EFCC operatives following a complaint brought against him by Abudullahi Salisu Muhammad of popular Kwari market,Kano alleging that he gave the convict,who is a school teacher the sum of N500,000.00 for the processing of Hajj ticket in April,2012.While he told him that he is a registered travelling agent,but to his greatest surprise the convict was un able to provide the said Hajj ticket and diverted the funds to his personal use and all effort to recover the money or get the ticket as agreed prove abortive,as the convict claimed that the monies were lost to armed robbers.In the judgement,Justice Omotosho convicted and sentenced the convict to seven years imprisonment.He however gave an option of N200,000.00 as fin

                                                       According to sources,six gay men were attacked in Cote d'Ivoire and forced to flee their homes after they were pictured signing a condolence book for the victims of the recent attack on a gay night club in Florida.The U.S embassy in the Ivorian capital of Abidjan hosted an event a fortnight ago to honour the Florida victims and published a photo of the six men on its website with the caption 'LGBTI community signing the condolence book''.Days after the tribute,one of the men in the photo was attacked by a mob in his neighbourhood.Another man in the picture was also attacked after the photo was circulated on facebook and other websites,said the head of an Abidjan-based gay rights group,who asked to remain anonymous.The other four men in the photo were verbally abused,and all six fled their homes.Wow this is serious.More photos below.                                                     

NIGERIANS MOURN THE DEATH OF ONE OF AFRICA'S FINEST NOVELIST ELECHI AMADI,WHO PAST AWAY YESTERDAY.

                          One of Africa's finest novelist,poet and dramatist Captain Elechi Amadi died yesterday at the Good Heart hospital in Port Harcourt at the age of 82.A member of the family confirmed the development yesterday to some pressmen.Elichi Amadi is said to have been among the first generation of African writers and novelists.Some of his works include The Concubine,The Great Ponds,Isiburu,Sunset in Africa,Dance of Johannesburg,peppersoup,The Road to Ibadan,The Slabes,Estrangement and the Woman of Calabar''.Funny enough i have read almost all his book.Adieus Captain Elechi Amadi,may you rest in the house of God Amen.More photos below.
