As was the case with the annual report for 2020, the Ministry is publishing this First Quarter situation report, as part of its efforts to enthrone transparency in managing the complex security situation of the State and to bring to the fore exact and factual security accounts as submitted by the military, police, DSS and all the agencies involved in internal security. The Ministry remains committed to the involvement of citizens in the campaign against banditry, kidnapping, killings and counter killings via a participatory and collective battle against threats to security and safety of the citizenry.

  The acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has commenced the overhauling of the security architecture in the South-East amid rising security challenges in the region. This move has led to the posting of CP Christopher Owolabi as the new Commissioner of Police in charge of Anambra State Police Command. A statement on the Twitter handle of the Nigeria Police Force revealed that “the deployment of the new CP is part of the ongoing efforts at re-ordering, overhauling and strengthening the security and policing architecture in Anambra State and other States of the South-East and South-South geo-political zones of the country. “This is ultimately designed to improve the operational efficiency of the commands and enhance public safety and security. CP Chris Owolabi takes over from CP Monday Bala Kuryas, fsi who has been redeployed to the Anti-Fraud Section of the Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos.”.

  Obiano’s Anambra Airport Miracle By Uche Nworah I am going to bed tonight, Friday, 30th April, 2021, a happy man. Earlier today, we witnessed the successful test landing of 3 aircrafts at Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport, Umueri. 2 of the aircrafts, commercial planes belong to Air Peace airlines, owned by Chief Allen Onyema, Ide Ihiala, while the other was a private jet that brought guests to the event. It was on this same ground, sometime in 2017 that we came for the flag-off of the airport construction. However, the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with a Chinese firm could not be consummated for several reasons. I was part of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) team that covered that event. Governor Willie Obiano, being a man of his words, and having promised Ndi Anambra an airport didn’t want to go back on his promise. With his team, Governor Willie Obiano went back to the drawing board and hatched an audacious plot to still deliver on his airport promise

  The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB) has opted for holy pilgrimage to the kingdom of Jordan instead of Jerusalem for its forthcoming May/June Pilgrimage due to the refusal of Israel to open its border for the exercise. The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olarewaju Elegushi, disclosed this during the Pilgrims Welfare Board Stakeholders/Sensitisation Forum held for intending Pilgrims at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday. Elegushi explained that the State Government, in conjunction with the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), decided to embark on pilgrimage to Jordan instead of Jerusalem after investigations revealed that Israel might not open its border for pilgrimage soon. He added that officials of the Ministry had visited Jordan during the routine 'State of Readiness' exercise to ascertain the level of its preparedness to host the pilgrimage exercise, adding that the state of their readiness to welcome pilgr
