       At about 6.00pm yesterday, 25th November 2017, suspected elements of Boko Haram terrorists attempted to attack Magumeri. As a prelude to the intended attack on the town, the terrorists attempted to dislodge the Forward Operational Base in Magumeri, Borno State. However, soldiers of 5 Brigade Garrison located in the town repelled the attack. The troops fought gallantly. Unfortunately, 3 soldiers lost their lives, whi le 6 others sustained injuries. The bodies of the late soldiers and the wounded have been evacuated. The wounded are receiving medical attention. Some platforms were also attacked and damaged by the terrorists. Further developments regarding the incident will be communicated accordingly.        The Armed Forces Command and Staff College is conducting a field exercise between 29 Nov – 9 Dec 2017 in Labar, Dunki and Sabon Birni general area of Kaduna State. During the period, there will be massive movement of military personnel and equipment to and fro the area. Also, there will be sounds of explosives and gun shots. In view of this, the general public especially people living around the exercise area are advised to remain calm and not to panic on sighting movement of troops and equipment or hearing sound of explosives and small arms. While necessary preventive measures have been put in place for the general security and safety of the area, the general public is equally implored to keep off the vicinity of the exercise area during the period.        Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has ordered the closure of any microfinance bank shortchanging their customers in the disbursement of the second tranche of Central Bank of Nigeria's soft loans to small and medium scale enterprises (SMES). The governor gave the order yesterday when he met with the management of the banks and some aggrieved customers in Ado-Ekiti. In a statement by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, he quoted the governor as saying that all the anomalies in the disbursement of the funds must be corrected immediately. Some of the bank customers had complained to the governor that they were paid much less than what they signed for. For instance, some of them said they signed for N100,000 and were paid N66,000, and that the affected banks were giving flimsy excuses for the discrepancies.       On friday the 24th of November 2017, Luck ran out of two armed robbers who tried to steal from a 7up depot situated at Okoti, Odoekpe in Ogbaru Anambra state. According to eye witnesses, the robbers came on a kymco motorcycle, shot the salesman and tried to rob them of their sales for the day before some passersby overpowered and lynched them to death.More photos below.
