  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. KDSG Security Update: Monday 7th February 2022.  Troops foil attack, rescue seven persons in Chikun LGA.  Security agencies have reported to the Kaduna State Government that troops foiled an attack by bandits in Ungwan Garama, located in the Maraban Rido general area of Chikun LGA.  According to the report, a distress call was received from the area and security forces swiftly responded, mobilizing to the location and engaging the bandits. After an intense exchange, the superior firepower of the troops forced the criminals to flee in disarray.  The security forces exploited the withdrawal route of the bandits, and were thus able to rescue seven persons who had been kidnapped. Kola Bello, the All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader in Iseyin, Oke-Ogun area of Oyo state, is dead. Bello died in a car accident along Ibadan-Iseyin road at the weekend while returning home from the APC’s ‘Southwest Progressive Youth Festival’ held in Ibadan. His body has been deposited at a morgue in the state. One more photo below.

Ndi Nnewi have come to the aid of Nnewi-born, Anthony Arinzechi, the man who was seen in a viral video sleeping rough on the streets of India. New photos have surfaced online showing the man in a care facility confirming that truly, help is on the way. According to Mazi Ifeanyi Nwosu; “Our brother, Mr. Anthony Arinzechi whose video went viral last week is currently at WOCKHADT HOSPITAL MUMBAI INDIA for medical treatment which our brother, Hon. Okwuchukwu Okafor, the Chairman of Nzuko Ora Nnewi India is taking care of”.  Mazi Nwosu also confirmed that Mr. Anthony Arinzechi, “will be home as soon as possible”.  Continuing, he said that Ndi Nnewi are not soliciting for funds on Arinzechi’s behalf and cautioned the public to “beware of ndi 419”, for according to him, “Nnewi zuru ka emee na nke a”.

EFCC Cross Examines Witnesses in Senator Albert Bassey’s Money Laundering Trial The money laundering trial of Senator Obong Albert Bassey before Justice Agatha A. Okeke of the Federal High Court, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State continued today February 7, 2022 with the cross examination of defence witnesses by the prosecution. The EFCC had at the last sitting closed its case, while the defendant was ordered to open his defence. At today’s sitting, the defence called two witnesses, Kubiat Etah and Kennedy Ekong, who were cross examined by prosecuting counsel, Attah Ocholi.

Daisi Oso, has condemned all encroachments on setbacks and incidental open spaces in some parts of the State.  Oso made this known over the weekend during routine monitoring of the Lekki/Epe Expressway and Lekki Phase I, lamenting the way some citizens have encroached on the setbacks and incidental open spaces in the Lekki Phase I/Lekki Epe Expressway axis.
