EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

THE QUEEN HOSTED A RECEPTION TO MARK THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INVESTITURE OF THE PRINCE OF WALES {PRINCE CHARLES}.{PHOTOS}.

       Her Majesty The Queen yesterday hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the 50th anniversary of the investiture of The Prince of Wales. The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and The Princess Royal met guests and watched musical performances by students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Guests included representatives from The Prince of Wales’s Welsh charities and patronages. Prince Charles was created The Prince of Wales aged 9 on July 26th 1958 and was formally invested with the title by Her Majesty on July 1st 1969. Investiture Regalia worn by The Prince in 1969, including the Investiture Coronet, Sword, Ring and Rod, were on display today. The Archbishop of Canterbury gave a speech, thanking The Prince of Wales for his service to Wales.More photos below.

      The Lagos State Government on Wednesday clarified reports making the rounds that it had declared Friday, March 8 as Public Holiday for Civil Servants, saying the information was untrue. A report currently circulating on social media platforms had suggested that the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode had declared Friday as public holiday to enable Lagosians prepare for the March 9 Governorship and House of Assembly elections. But in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, the Government said that civil servants are expected to be at their various duty posts on Friday, and disregard any information to the contrary.        Police in Ogun State have arrested a 29-year-old man, Owolabi Folorunsho, for allegedly hacking his 99-year-old aunty to death. The suspect was said to have been arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ago-Iwoye, CSP Ade Adedoyin, that the a middle-aged man had butchered his aunt, Ebunola Aroboto, to death. It was learnt that the incident occurred at Maraisa Lane, Igan Road, Ago-Iwoye, yesterday. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said immediately the DPO received the distressed call, he quickly led his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested and the machete used by the suspect was recovered at the scene. Oyeyemi said during interrogation, the suspect admitted killing the old woman with a machete because he had an inclination that the woman was responsible for most of his spiritual problems. OYO RELEASES N1.5BN FOR PAYMENT OF GRATUITY TO RETIRED PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS,LGs WORKERS.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Oyo State Government on Tuesday said that it has released the sum of One Billion, Five Hundred Million Naira (N1.5bn) as part payment of outstanding gratuity and pension arrears to retired primary school teachers and local government workers in the state. Also, the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has approved that the current salary of workers in the state be paid with their new financial benefits in line with 2012 – 2016 promotion exercise as recommended by the Technical Committee set up by the governor on February 14, 2019. The government stated that the sum of Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (750M) will also be contributed quarterly by the Local Governments and its Local Council Development Areas (LCDAS) in the state for the same purpose in order to offset the accumulated gratuities of the retired local government workers including retired primary school teachers at all grade levels.       Lagos State Chief Judge, Justice Opeyemi Oke has reiterated the need for Nigeria to join developed countries that have embraced the culture of plea bargaining in their judicial system. Speaking at the opening ceremony of a Plea Bargaining training programme for Magistrates of the Lagos State Judiciary organised by the Rule of Law & Anti-Corruption in Nigeria (ROLAC) on Monday, the Chief Judge said that in the United States where it is  deeply entrenched, its culture has greatly advanced the judicial sector of the country. "In the United States where plea bargaining is deeply entrenched, the Columbia Law Review reports that about 90% of the criminal defendants convicted in State and Federal Courts plead guilty rather than exercise their right to stand trial before a Court or Jury", Justice Oke stated.
