 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

           Yesterday,the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited people injured in the London Bridge terrorist incident at The Royal London Hospital.The Prince and The Duchess also met medical and support staff who were involved in looking after the patients.Earlier in the day,Prince Charles and his wife Camilla visited the Metropolitan Police Service's Central Communications Command to meet policemen and women and emergency personnel who responded to the incident.More photos below.

                 According to the Senate President Bukola Saraki,who shared this update on social media few hours wrote ''Yesterday,the 8th Senate passed a Motion on the increasing rate of dropped calls and other unwholesome practices by Telecommunications Network Operators in Nigeria.These dropped calls have cost Nigerians billions of Naira.This is unacceptable!.The Senate noted that although telecommunications operators have gradually become an integral part of the Nigerian economy and a tool in the social-economic life of Nigerians,millions of subscribers continue to complian about an increasing rate of dropped calls; voice quality problems; and not being able to control their bundle usages,which oftentimes leads to the phone companies automatically switching their services to pricier airtime options.In this regard,the Senate condemned the inefficiency of GSM Network Operators in Nigeria; urged the NCC to immediately invoke the appropriate provisions of the law to protect Ni

CURFEW IN CENTRAL INDIA AFTER 5 FARMERS DIED IN CLASHES WITH POLICE YESTERDAY.

              According to BBC,a curfew has been imposed in a district of the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh following a day of violence in which five farmers died.The farmers died in Mandaur after shots were fired during their protest to demand loan waivers and better prices for their produce.Protesters accused the police of opening fire,but officials blamed some ''anti-social elements'' for the deaths.State Home Minister Bhupendra Singh said an inquiry had been ordered.Farmers have been protesting for days to put pressure on the government and other parts of the state have also witnessed similar rallies.Experts say traders are not offering good prices to farmers because of oversupply caused by a bumper harvest.

             A former Rivers State's Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC,Gesila Khan Okubama,was today wednesday,June 7,2017 arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,at a Federal High Court,sitting in Port Harcourt,Rivers State over N185.8 million sscam.The Commissioner,together with one other official,Peter Popnen,was arraigned before Justice Salihu Saidu on a five-count charge bordering on gratification and money laundering to the tune of N185,842,00k {One Hundred and Eighty Five Million,Eight Hundred and Forty Two Thousand Naira only}.Specifically,the two former INEC Officialss got into trouble,for allegedly collecting the sum of N185,842,00k in the weeks preceding the 2015 Presidential election as a bribe.They are among the over 100 INEC Officials that allegedly collected part of the $115million {N23BN},distributed by a former minister of Petroleum Resources,Diezani Alison-Madueke,during the countdown to t
