 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

       The Lagos State Government has enjoined the residents of the State seeking accommodation to engage only the services of Registered Estate / Developer Agents in the State. The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Housing, Mr. Wasiu Adedamola Akewusola, gave the advice at Alapere, Ketu area of Lagos where a fraudulent property developer collected money from over 262 different prospective home seekers for only 15 units of studio rooms. He decried the present rate of fraudulent acts of illegal Estate Agents /Developers depriving people of their hard-earned money through dubious activities, stressing that home seekers should desist from patronising quacks and criminals when scouting for accommodation and houses to buy.      The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has expressed sadness over the slow pace of action from the government of United Kingdom, (UK) on the corruption case, involving former Petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke. Diezani, who is in UK is being prosecuted by the UK government on issues of corruption, but Magu regrets that the matter has dragged on in the UK for more than four years with no visible result and no end in sight. Magu expressed this worry, today, Wednesday, July 24, 2019, when he received the team of International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol, at EFCC's headquarters.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Port Harcourt's Zonal Office on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 arraigned Sixty- five year old Igweneme Moses before Justice A. T Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy and money laundering contrary to Section 18 and punishable under Section 15(2) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act,   2011 (As amended). Specifically, Moses was docked for defrauding a Swiss, the sum of $240,700 (Two Hundred and Forty Thousand Seven Hundred American Dollars) though several criminal disguises of love and promise of marriage. One of the count charges read: “That you, Igweneme Moses and Igweneme Nkiruka Blessing (now at large) between the 18th and 24th May, 2018 directly took possession of the sum of $38,000 (Thirty Eight Thousand US Dollars) which you knew or reasonably ought to have known is the proceeds of an unlawful act, to wit: obtaining money under false

      Justice Daniel Longji of the Plateau State High Court, Jos has admitted the confessional statement made by a former Plateau State governor, Jonah Jang, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in the course of investigating allegations that he diverted to personal use about N6.2billion state fund shortly before the end of his tenure. Jang is facing a 12-count charge alongside Yusuf Pam, a former cashier in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government. At the resumed hearing, July 23, 2019 counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN presented Jang's statement to the Court through the 11th prosecution witness, Musa Sunday. In his evidence-in-chief, Sunday, an EFCC investigator told the Court that "in carrying out my duties as a detective, I interviewed Jang and obtained statements from him". The statement was thereafter identified by him and tendered by Jacobs as evidence against Jang. Counsel for Jang, Benson Igbanoi, raised no objections

EFCC ARRESTS 9-SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN EDO STATE.{PHOTOS}.

      Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office on July 23, 2019 arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters at their various hideouts in Benin City, Edo State. They were arrested sequel to intelligence gathering, which alleged that they were involved in the fraudulent internet activity known as ‘cat-fishing’. The suspects who are between the ages of 20 and 35 are: Amafin Collins, Edafitite Abel, Usianene Elizojie, Ojiefor Marvelus, Uduehi Osumor, Geigi Emmanuel Ose, Osaro Osakpolor, Francis Omoiegbe and Onuoba Prince Nonso. Items recovered from them at the point of arrest include luxury cars, laptop computers, mobile phones, flash drives and internet modems. They have made useful statements and will soon be charged to court.        Following the expiration of the 7-day abatement notices served on the owners of illegal shanties and traders along the Lagos - Badagry Express Road, the Lagos State Government on Tuesday commenced the cleanup exercise along the road. The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Taiwo Olufemi Salaam, who led the cleanup team in the company of the Chairman, Lagos Task Force CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi  and others, explained that the exercise was in line with the Executive Order of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on zero tolerance for traffic gridlocks and indiscriminate dumping of refuse.       Captain Simisola Ajibola pictured above is the Female pilot who averted the near tragedy on Air Peace aircraft that happened at the Muratala Mohammed International Airport Lagos yesterday July 23rd,saving 133 people. The Air Peace Boeing 737 plane lost its tyres after crash-landing at the Airport facility. According to eyewitness accounts, the incident was brought under control, thanks to the expertise of Captain Simi who handled the near-fatal incident professionally.More photos below.

133 PASSENGERS SAFE AS AIR-PEACE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED YESTERDAY AT LAGOS AIRPORT.{PHOTOS}.

       Tragedy was averted yesterday Tuesday 23/7/2019 in Lagos as Airpeace Boeing 737 from Port Harcourt landing gear collapses after dropping 30 ft causing the plane to make emergency landing. The commercial aircraft was flown by a Nigeria female pilot. The aircraft had on board 133 passengers and six crew members. Everybody was evacuated without casualties.Thank God for their lives.More photos below.
