FORCE COMMANDER PAYS MAIDEN VISIT TO SECTOR 2 BAGASOLA - CHAD The Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali has paid a maiden familiarisation visit to Sector 2 Bagasola, Chad. The visit was held on 2 August 2023. During the visit, Major General Ali commended the troops for the successes recorded in stabilizing the Lake Chad region. He emphasized that the MNJTF will not rest till it clears remnants of terrorists from  Lake Chad Islands known as “Tumbums”. Coup: Nigeria Cuts Electricity Supply To Niger August 2, 2023 Major cities in the Niger Republic are experiencing prolonged blackouts after Nigeria cut its power supply to the neighbouring West African country, according to Nigelec, an electricity company in Niger. The development followed an emergency meeting by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), where sanctions, including freezing utility services, were imposed on the Niger Republic over its coup. The cities of Niamey, Maradi, and Zinder each witnessed about an hour of electricity at a time before it went off for about five hours. Man Jailed for Giving False information to EFCC The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of one Misbah Ahmed before Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court on a one count charge bordering on false information. The defendant misled operatives of the Commission into believing that a huge sum of money in foreign currency was stashed in a residence located at Federal Housing Low-cost, Tudun Wada, Zamfara State. Ahmad sometime in June, 2023 at Kaduna, willfully gave false information to an officer of the Commission that a large sum of money in United States of America currency (USD) was fraudulently kept at a residence located at Federal Housing Low-cost, Tudun Wada Zamfara State, which he knew to be false. EFCC Secures Conviction of Barber, Two Others for Internet Fraud in Kaduna The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of the trio of Miracle Obiduikwu (aka Jevonta Latimer), Baneywu Kuzayet Ambrose (aka Alexa Daisy) and Francis Uba Chidebere (aka Cherrycapricott) before Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna on separate one count charge bordering on internet fraud.  The defendants who were arrested in different parts of Kaduna following intelligence linking them to various internet fraud-related activities, were found to have defrauded some foreign nationals through social media.  They all pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against them.
