ANAMBRA POLICE RESCUES KIDNAP VICTIM; ARREST SUSPECTS; RECOVER ARMS AND VEHICLE Police Operatives attached to Area Command Headquarters, Onitsha while on township patrol on 30th August 2023 received a distress call at about 9.30 P.M. of a kidnap incident around Borromeo Roundabout. The Operatives responded to the distress call and caught up with a shuttle bus in which the kidnapped victim was held.  The highly trained operatives professionally engaged the kidnappers in a shootout without harming the hostage who was rescued unhurt.  Two suspects were arrested at the scene while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds. ANAMBRA POLICE BUSTS BURGLARY GANG, ARRESTS FOUR SUSPECTS, RECOVERS STOLEN ITEMS The Police in Ogidi, Anambra State have busted a 4-man burglary gang that targets commercial shops across the State. Acting on a tip-off received on 30th August, 2023 the Police stormed the hideout of the gang and cordoned it off to prevent escape of any of the gang members. Tailors protest alleged extortion by Aba Power Limited Tailors in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, on Wednesday staged a protest against alleged extortion by Aba Power Limited (APL), a subsidiary of Geometric Power. According to reports, the protesters alleged that despite the epileptic power supply from APL, the company was trying to run them out of business with estimated bills. A former Chairman of the Association of Tailors and Fashion Designers in the state, Mr Onyebuchi Nwigwe, said that they were not happy with the activities of APL, which, he said, were affecting their trade. Another tailor, Ikenna Agu, said they were pained because the company used policemen and soldiers to harass and intimidate them to pay. He said the company came with soldiers on Saturday to their business premises, disconnected their lines without prior warning, and beat up some of them, including some customers.
