The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. 2023 UTME: JAMB directs candidates to print notification slips 21 April 2023  The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed candidates for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to proceed to print their examination notification slips. This is contained in a statement by Dr Fabian Benjamin, Head, Public Affairs and Protocol of the board, and issued to newsmen on Friday in Lagos. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a total of 1.5 million candidates would be sitting for this year’s examination in 740 centres across the country. “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) urges all candidates sitting for the 2023 main UTME, to proceed to print their examination notification slip from Thursday, April 20. “The notification slip would contain their examination centre, time of examination, date of examination and other essential details necessary for taking the examination, which commences from Tuesday, April 25. ”To this effect the

Pregnant lady dies few months after pastor persuaded her to remain in ‘abusive’ relationship 21 April 2023  A lawyer described how one of his pregnant clients died after being persuaded by her pastor to drop a divorce dispute in court. Bolanle Cole, the lawyer, said on Twitter that a man phoned on behalf of his daughter in the UK, requesting the dissolution of her marriage. His daughter, who subsequently became a customer, contacted him, and a petition case was filed at the Ikorodu High Court. A week after the divorce lawsuit was filed, his client, husband, pastors, and other family members met and agreed that the pair would resolve their differences outside of court. Bolanle Cole further stated that his client’s father phoned him yesterday to inform him that her husband had beaten his five months pregnant wife, resulting in her death.

Anambra begins operation show your receipts for traders in all markets 21 April 2023   The Anambra State Government has commenced what it described as ” Operation Show Your Receipts For Traders In All Markets” as veritable means for it to ensure that traders in the state paid directly to the government and not to non-state actors who have constituted themselves into revenue agents. Disclosing this strategy to our correspondent in his office at the Revenue House Awka during an exclusive interview, Chairman of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Richard Madiebo said it was important that government insisted on traders showing evidence of payment of their rates and levies to enable it beef up revenues from the markets. Madiebo explained that Anambra state was 70% commercial and that if a trader paid his levies and commercial enterprises also paid their various personal income taxes and business premises, government would generate more funds to provide necessary infrastructure

COFFIN REFUSES TO BE BURIED, HIT SUSPECTED KILLER ON HEAD IN CHIPEMBELE. By Hope Chooma. Drama and Confusion this morning erupted in Chiyobola village of Chipembele ward in Monze district after a coffin for a man in his 60s identified as Bruno Chilundu allegedly refused to be buried. Chipembele Ward Councilor Bonaventure Mwiinga tells wave fm news that the drama started when the coffin started dragging poll bearers searching for the suspected killers. Mr Mwiinga further explains that the coffin has hit the elder brother to the late on the head as one of the suspect killer behind the death of the late Chilundu. He says the deceased was a retired teacher who died on 18th April 2023 in unclear circumstance. The Civic leader says the burial was supposed to take place today after the church service. By broadcast time, the coffin was still searching other suspected killers. One more photo below. 

CAITLYN JENNER LOST HIS MOTHER AT THE AGE OF 96.(PHOTOS).

Esther Jenner, the mother of Olympic gold medalist and former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Caitlyn Jenner, died on Thursday. She was 96.  Caitlyn shared the news in a social media post, alongside a carousel of smiling photos from their happy moments in recent years.  "I am heartbroken to announce my mom passed away yesterday morning, peacefully. Losing a mother is unique in the sense that she is the only person that loved me my entire life," Caitlyn wrote. "I will miss her tremendously. She was a few weeks shy of 97 and lived a full life. Love you mom."  Esther appeared in one episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2013, and later appeared alongside Caitlyn in the TV docuseries I Am Cait and, most recently, 2021's Untold: Caitlyn Jenner.  Man Hacks Girlfriend to Death in Kaduna Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a man who allegedly murdered his girlfriend.   Spokesperson of the command, DSP Muhammad Jalige, who confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday, April 21, 2023, said the suspect was rescued as he was about being lynched by a mob. Jalige said on April 14 that at about 21:30hrs, the Command received a distress call that there was a mob action at NEPA Roundabout in Kaduna metropolis where an unruly crowd were about to lynch a man. Operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene. “On getting there they met the suspect lying unconscious and surrounded by a crowd,” he said.  According to Jalige, information gathered revealed that the suspect attacked his girlfriend of Old Command Secondary and Nursery School, Sokoto Road, Kaduna with a machete and inflicted multiple degrees of injury on her face, arms and hands.   He explained that during the attack the man severed her left hand completely, allegin

Yesterday the Court of Appeal quashed the charges filed against me, the former Minister of Finance Nenadi Usman and others at the Federal High Court in Lagos by the EFCC for the misappropriation of 4.6 billion naira and money laundering. The case lasted for 7 long years. Glory be to God! This is the second time the Lord has done this and it is a testimony of His goodness and mercy. History records that in 2008 I was arraigned at the Federal High Court in Lagos and was prosecuted by the EFCC for the misappropriation of 19.5 billion naira. Again the case lasted for 7 long years. Thanks be to God, I was discharged, acquitted and cleared of all charges in 2015. Yesterday the Lord did it again. On both occasions His grace and mercy fought for me and my innocence spoke for me.  Lawyer Kills Husband Over Leaked Infidelity The police has arraigned a 36-year-old lawyer, Abasiesebanga Ikoiwak, and five others for allegedly killing her 41-year-old husband, Barrister Godwin Ikoiwak. According to information gathered, Ikoiwak, who was a native of Eket Local Government Area, had reportedly died a few days after the deceased told his friend and former classmate, Barrister Sunny Anyanwu in a phone conversation that he was having issues with his wife over infidelity. Narrating how the deceased died before an Uyo High Court, Anyanwu said that the deceased hinted him that he reported the matter to his wife’s family who invited him to a meeting in their family compound in Nung Udoe Itak, Ikono Local Government Area, but did not return home alive. Internet Fraudster Bags Two Years Jail Term in Port Harcourt Justice E. A. Obile of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has convicted and sentenced an internet fraudster, Austine Famaa to two years imprisonment for impersonation. Famaa was jailed on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, after pleading "guilty" to a two count charge preferred against him by the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. He pleaded guilty to the charge. In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, U .I. Nwokorie prayed the court to convict and sentence the defendant accordingly. Counsel to the defendant, D .O. Black Friday In Imo As Gunmen Kill 5 Policemen, Couple April 21, 2023 Five policemen and a couple were shot dead at Okpala junction in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, on Friday. While the identities of the policemen remain unknown as of press time, the couple were identified as Mr and Mrs Chinaka Nwagu, natives of Amankwo Okpala community. It was gathered that the slain policemen had driven from neighbouring Abo Mbaise police Division to eat at the junction. However while they were eating some gunmen drove to the scene and opened fire on them. An eye witness said that while three police were shot dead at the scene, two others ran to a nearby restaurant, but their attackers trailed them and killed them, including the couple who owned the shop they took refuge in.
